Antec P182, GTX 580, gaming build - Silent
Hey,
I wanted to share my gaming build with you guys.
My Specs:
i2500K not overclocked but undervolted @Megahalem (1x Scythe Sliptstream @5V (or 7V can't remember actually))
Asus P8P67
2x 4Gb Mushkin Ram
Sparkle Calibre X580 (modded the bios so the fan is not audible)
Asus Xonar D1
2x Intel X-25M 80Gb SSD
Seasonic X650W

As you can see I only run 2 fans total. 1 as CPU fan and 1 case fan. Both are Scythe Slipstream @5V (maybe the CPU fan runs at 7V but I can't remember atm). The GTX580 is awesome after I modded the bios. It wouldn't run below 60% fan speed as factory standard. I have set it to 20% which is below the buzz noise of my 2x Dell 27" monitors. I also removed the front door from the case and cut out all the fan grills. In the near future I'll replace the 2x SSDs with 1 larger so I can get rid of some cables.
Overall I rly like it since there is more than enough power to power my monitors and play on highest details. I would rly like a motherboard with a good built in soundcard so I can save some space but apparently there are none.

Very nice computer, its a Sparkle Calibre x580 right? Not a Gigabyte.
Btw the aftercooler is the best that you can find (Artic Accelero XTREME Plus), this graphic card is really powerfull and expensive too
Do you think that your PSU can handle a SLI of 580 or 460?

stupid me ofc it is the Sparkle Calibre gonna change that right now. About the SLI stuff I honestly have no idea. I also dunno what you rly need a SLI of GTX580 for. I run 2x 27" monitors with a resolution of 2560x1440. Can play Crysis 2 at max details without problems so I don't see a reason for SLI^^ But nevertheless the Seasonic X series is also available in 850W afaik. So that should be enough

My sparkle x580 comes today actually . How did you mod the bios? Via Nibitor? What rpm does 20% show up as?
Nice build!
Nice build!

I read the Bios with GPUZ and I modded it with nibitor iirc. The 20% was just a value that was quieter than the buzz of my monitor so I used that. THe temps are quite okay as well. Something like 47° or so.

I've had my Sparkle 580 for a while. I modded the bios to 0% min fan and 85% max.
My fan profile has the fans spin down @ idle (idles 40-50c) which is anything under 7%. Once it hits 55c it spins to 7% which starts spinning the first fan over the memory which has no heatsinks (but they barely get warm even under load). Max i set the fans is 37% @ 85c but it never gets that hot even under artificial load and high ambients.
I love the AXP cooler it's amazing. With 4 fans @ 500rpm in the dead of the night I can't hear the AXP @ 7% it's only barely audible @ 20% and gets what i'd consider loud around 50-60%. Even the default 40% is managable.
I might just get another one
