This is known as a beat tone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_%28acoustics%29When both are placed on the Havik 140, the noise signature acquires an odd pulsing type sound audible at 7V and above. ...the speeds of the two fan samples were very close, within 30~40 RPM of one another.

Short for a server class fan which can be expected to run constantly. While towards a decade for most home systems. How many here don't tend to swap out fans every 4-5 years anyway?
