Hi.

A friend of mine has created a software system for doing on-the-fly positional sound regardless of number of speakers. He's trying to get his software into sound studios, and apparently the only way to do that is to offer a complete hardware+software package. He's telling me the standard for sound studios is half-depth rack, fully passive, and silent. I've been looking for a way to fit all his requirements with off-the-shelf stuff (volume is too low for custom), and filing since the requirements are so onerous:

- 2U max
- half depth
- fully passive
- internal PSU
- room for a full-height, half-length PCIE card

the rest is pretty vanilla:
- any core i3 CPU, Intel brand mandatory, will run at full power most of the time. low power version OK.
- any RAM and disk size, really, maybe even a CF card or USB boot disk.
- the usual ports: ethernet, HDMI

the best I could find are these: http://www.atechfabrication.com/product ... t_2500.htm . They are too deep, and don't include the PSU.

Does anyone know of anything more suited to the requirements ?

Thanks and best regards, Olivier

The only option for a fully passive system in such a small space is a "heatsink case" like the one you linked.
Other options are: HFX mini case SPCR review, or a pre-built system from Hush. Any of these options is very quiet and very expensive. Assembling a HFX System is more time consuming and a little more difficult than usual.
The Deltatronic media i3 is a little taller at 115mm, but much less expensive.
