Saw this on OCN. It doesn't appear to be out or readily available, so it could be vaporware, but who knows. Would be nice if they sent samples (if the product/technology is real) to SPCR.

Might not be out yet, but it's not vaporware. Just saw this:

Seems to work pretty damned good.

Looks like they are in the business of licensing technology to manufacturers. So if you want a PC fan you would likely need to go to them to get a license and go to a company like Yate loon to get it manufactured.

The technology may work great when comparing it with a normal fan but I wonder how it does compared to a already silent fan eg. Nexus.

Might not work too well if you're not listening to the fan from right in front, slightly off side

Why would that make any difference. Why would you think the noise canceling speakers are any more or any less directional than the noise made by the fan?

Because I think that the noise coming from a fan varies depending at what angle you hear it at... no ? Maybe it's just my hearing

Maybe there are more answers here : viewtopic.php?t=55271
(I read it a while ago, might not be very relevant for this topic...)

It isn't dear to me that directionality of the sound coming from the fan will affect the the noise cancellation effect.

Noctua claims, quote: "Our performance target is to achieve about 80% more airflow and 120% higher static pressure at the same noise level as the original NF-F12".
