Looking for a good size 12 volt fan for cellar ventilation

Post by aristide1 » Fri Sep 16, 2011 4:18 pm

This is part 2 of my search as the result of the cellar damage done by Irene. The moisture level continues to be high down there, and it smells pretty bad. Of course I need to start throwning stuff out like crazy, but the garbage can is already full.

Solar attic and gable fans are really expensive, starting around $175 for 850CFM units. That's without a solar cell. Initially the ideal fan seemed to be auto radiator electric fans, but they draw 10-15+ amps and their emphasis is on being really thing, which doesn't aid their efficiency.

I like this unit:

A separate cell allows remote/optimal mounting. It's perfect in regards to when to run, it should be full blast on the nicest says, which it would be.

I'd plan on adding 1 or 2 to the attic later.

Thoughts and recommendations appreciated.

Here is a company that manufactures good quality solar products. I have had the attic fan for several years and am very happy with it.

Costco carries some of their stuff, both in warehouse and online.
