My new storage drive will likely be one of these two. The barracuda green wins in benchmarks, but only just, so I am leaning for the Barracuda.
Either drive is faster than my current 1Tb barracuda, so benches don't really matter.
Price also doesn't matter.
The Barracuda Green is 5900 rpm, whereas the caviar green is "variable", but closer to 5400.
I suppose both drives are quieter than a 7200 RPM drive but what I want to know is which is best and if the acoustic difference between them is noticeable.
Which drive should I get? Also, if not one of these two, what is the quietest 2Tb HDD out there?
PS: It would be great if someone actually had both at some point and could therefore tell the difference.

Both have been reviewed by SPCR.
Re: Barracuda Green vs Caviar Green (2Tb)
I first bought the Seagate 2TB green, but now I returned it an installed the WD Green 2TB which is considerably more silent, specially the "tac tac" noise that the needle makes. I also suspended the WD Green and didn't try it attached "normally".

WD20EARX is very quiet, more so than the Samsung F4 (which works better as a system drive because of the better access time). I would recommend fixing headparking if you get a WD though.

How easy is it to "fix" headparking on modern WD drives?.
Re: Barracuda Green vs Caviar Green (2Tb)
You need to boot into dos-mode. And then type "wdidle3 /d" to disable the headpark. There's nothing more to it.
