Hi,
I'm looking for a small cpu cooler that must fit in my Fractal Design Core 1000.
Max height is 13.5cm, about 5.3 inches. Cpu is an i5 750 which is now cooled by a nexus r7000.
Looking forward to your suggestions.

Hi mudkip, how about an Arctic Cooling Freezer 13?
4 heatpipes and 92mm PWM fan, I had one on my i7-2600K for a while and it could cool it pretty quietly under load and certainly very quiet idle. Also a limited edition gray/black one.
It struggled once I started on the over-clocking though, needing noisy 1800~2000rpm to cool fully loaded chip in th 4.5~4.6GHz range.
Would think it will be just fine on i5-750, unless you over-clock it heavily. Maybe look for other 92mm fan tower coolers, some other should fit in your height restriction, or a Scythe Big Shuriken.
Within your height restriction, short of water cooling, I suggest the ultimate will be a Noctua NH-C14 in low-profile mode. This is a rather expensive solution, especially if want PWM fan(s) as well. My experience with it in narrow case is better noise and motherboard cooling with the fan(s) blowing away from the motherboard.
Good luck, Seb

How about the Scythe Katana 3? Height is 143 mm. Very good PWM fan which can go as low as 300 rpm

Noctua has a nice tower cooler designed for just such situations:

It is quiet and can pretty much handle any thermal load.

And somehow manages to be around 1cm shorter than other 92mm-fan towers, thus actually fitting in this case!ces wrote:Noctua has a nice tower cooler designed for just such situations:

What's your budget? What about a Noctua NH-C14?
Height 13cm and will also cool your surrounding components, you can also run it without the top fan which brings it down to 10.5cm. It performs as well as the NH-D14 in some cases.
