CPU Cooler - less than 135mm height

Post by Jupeksi » Sat Dec 24, 2011 5:19 pm

Hi all!

This is my first post. I'm going to build my first computer and it's for gaming HTPC use. I've decided to get a Lian Li PC-C50B case and I need a quiet CPU cooler for it.

My knowledge of computer parts is zero, so I need Your help! What is a quiet cooler for this case? I'm going to use I5-2500K (not going to overclock it, never.) When watching HD 1080p movies it should be silence. But when processor is loaded (gaming), noice level is not an issue for me.

I hope that you guys got my point. My English is really poorish, I know it... :)

Below 135mm for Tower Heatinks....
Noctua NH-U9B SE2 92mm SSO CPU Cooler (125mm height)
ARCTIC COOLING ACFZ13 (130mm height)
XIGMATEK LOKI SD963 92mm (134mm height)

Or on horizontal....
COOLER MASTER GeminII (75mm with fan)
Thermalright AXP-140 RT Low Profile Heatsink (95mm with a fan on top, can fit standard memory below it, check my servemi build for pictures).
Noctua NH-C14 (105mm with fan on bottom, 130mm with fan on top, with dual fans might not fit with memory below it, depending on how you install and your mobo layout)

Probably the best cooler of all would be be the NH-C14 but its going to be close at 130mm with your restriction on 135mm, the NH-U9B SE seems like a viable solution also since its 125mm, cross check that the height is correct and not typo and that your mobo can mount them.

Your English is easily understandable, and that's what matter the most.

Also consider the Scythe Samurai zz (reviewed here at SPCR). Good, low rpm, can easily cool a 95 W CPU.

Thanks for replys!

I ordered Noctua's NH-C14. I guess it'll perform more than good enough for me with 'super silence mode (700rpm?)' and with only one fan. Let's try what fits best for my requirements.
