Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM - ST2000DM001

Post by ist.martin » Fri Mar 02, 2012 8:57 am

Does anyone know the noise characteristics of the Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM - ST2000DM001 drive? I am going to get a QNAP TS-119PII NAS (best performance for the $, by far, that I can find) and I am looking for a reasonably priced hard drive that is on the QNAP compatibility list (http://www.qnap.com/USEng/pro_compatibility.asp).

The 2TB Barracuda with model number ST2000DM001 is 'just' $130 at DirectCanada (http://www.directcanada.com/products/?s ... re=SEAGATE). Which is a lot better than the $200+ of the other drives.

Will it be relatively quiet?

Thanks.

Just got mine today and it definitely runs pretty quiet. I still hear it spin if I listen closely. Even though it is the quietest 7200rpm hdd, I still to dampen the acoustic noise.
