Is anyone watching The Walking Dead? Spoiler Alert

Post by aristide1 » Sun Mar 11, 2012 6:25 pm

An extremely problematic episode. They just killed off Shane, one of the main characters. That's on top of killing off Dale, also one of the regular cast just last week. To make things worse two people got infected without being bitten, just from having open wounds, implying that the disease may be in the air or the soil. The episode ends with dozens of walkers coming out of the woods towards Rick and his son Carl.

This show certainly lends itself to ending as a cliffhanger every single week. On top of that it's become quite clear the group has as many problems with other humans and they do with walkers. A 21st century wild wild west.

Hint hint hint - The speech Rick gave his son, everybody dies, he wasn't talking for the kids benefit.

Good thing you asked, I had forgot that it was starting again. I don't deal so well with these half-season cutoffs and tend to actively forget about shows when they do it, since it's so frustrating. Anyway I think they've managed to improve the series after having watched four episodes in a row. I've yet to see the latest one, but am fairly ready for what they might do with the characters from being briefly familiar with the original comic. The love triangle was getting boring in the first season already so I'm glad to hear they'll settle it... ;)

The clashes with less than friendly groups of survivors could be a good change of pace for the series. Especially if winter is coming. =)

Well a number of people that I talked to today about the show noticed clues that I overlooked that have significant implications. That makes reviewing the last episode quite important.

Any show or movie is always time constrained, so when something seems really insignificant that means you need to ask why it's there, not to dismiss it.

I won't mention what the clue areas, I do know that the writers stated that the next and finale episode will be even more intense.

Maggie, sans the farm girl look.

SPOILER ALERT Aristide !!!

I love this show :) Lots of zombies
It has a bit of everyhting : action (no kidding), the interactions between the characters are a bit researched, the filming itself is mostly decent, the actors aren't too bad... One of the few shows I do watch on a regular basis.

EDIT : me likes the farm girl look

The finale is Sunday night March 18th.
Watch it before you end up on the menu.

SPOILER ALERT

Ha, so much for the spirit of Dale, that lasted all of 5 minutes.

Knew this would happen yesterday. Drawing walkers into the barn, setting it on fire, diversion from the main house. Less important members of the cast dropping like flies, that was a given.

Letting us know why all of a sudden there were a whole bunch of walkers in a given place, useful.

The group continues to regress into a dog-eat-dog environment, much like the US economy. And perhaps the world.

Real irony - Shane died, but everything wrong with him continues in the new Rick. Worst explanation of why he killed Shane ever.

Not watching Andrea's back - pitiful human behavior. Her new situation appears to be out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Missed opportunity - Since Randall had a broken neck he should have become a walker with his head reversed 180 degrees. That would have freaked people out.

Fortunately the show is so weak scientifically it's easy to not take seriously.

I thought that was a good episode, finally some zombie killing
The only thing wrong with this episode, is the lack of chainsaws.... Imagine a giant chaisaw mounted at the front of a truck, speeding through those zombies...

Character wise, I'm waiting to see Merle again, that'll bring in some action to replace Shane.

I only read two sentences, from the first post, but now I wish I did not.

Please add a spoiler alert to the first post before anyone makes the same mistake I did. Thanks!

Yes, I am watching The Walking Dead.

I admit this season dragged quite a bit. The Sofia debacle went on for too many episodes, and Carl's shooting was no better.

I still think this guy is Marilyn Manson.

I realize they never told us how it all got started.

Here's one very explicit theory.

You've been warned.

And no, there are no spoilers here, just humor.

Yes, I watched it but only the first season. I don't want to watch anymore. It's not for me.

I'm with you. The season one finale is what made me swear off the show. The way season one ended was very far-fetched.

Well this season's premier was interesting, though I must admit I can't get used to the quantity of main character turnover.

They sure could make good use of the song "Once bitten twice shy."
