Sorry - don't have time to look up the specs of RAM modules and CPU coolers for dimensions...at this point, you ought to call up AVA Direct, tell them want you want to have them build and ask for help selecting the RAM and cooler given your cost limitations. They are going to have to assemble and test it, so, obviously, it has to fit in order to ship it :)

Nearly any cooler is going to be better than the stock solution. If the fan ends up being noisy - you can replace that yourself. Just get a cooler that uses a backplate rather than the push pins.

IvyBridge: Yeah, it's coming out at the end of April. I wouldn't recommend it for someone that's not comfortable doing debug/firmware updates. Let someone else be the beta site until the firmware revisions settle.

I wouldn't say I'm comfortable doing debug/firmware updates yet, as I've never done it before, but I'm willing to learn. I flashed a custom ROM on my cellphone, so I figure I can learn.

But after the whole Sandy Bridge SATA thing, I would think they don't want a repeat of that, so maybe they will get the firmware right the first time.

:D

It's never happened before - why start now? Remember, it's not just Intel. It's every bit of programmable hardware on the mobo that might be new/might need a firmware revision (audio chip, network chip, etc). Plus, every mobo needs to be tweaked for best performance (BIOS rev's). If you have spare time, go wander the support section of any mobo mfgr and look at the firmware revision history for each chipset. They all have lots of revisions in the first few months of release. It's the nature of the beast.

- If you have the extra cash, it's worth it to get the 128GB version of the m4.
- I don't have an opinion on the Antec PSU.
- the fan on the Coolermaster is kinda meh, but go ahead and try it. It's something you can easily replace yourself.

Personally, I'm going to wait for Ivy Bridge. I might wait a bit for the first batches to get the kinks worked out. But I'm definitely not buying Sandy Bridge on the heels of the Ivy Bridge release (only 10 days I think). The graphics on Ivy Bridge is going to run circles around any Sandy Bridge i7.

Not really.

toronado455: I agree. If you don't need the system right now, wait a couple of months for the dust to settle and get IVB.

Not really.

Having seen, touched & played with both the Coolermaster 550 & NZXT H2, I'd go with the H2 every time. It definitely needs to be modded for better airflow, but it is a fundamentally better case. Stronger, heavier, more solid, more soundproof, better features. I use the review sample, modded as as per the last page in the review, as my 2nd desktop PC. No complaints whatsoever.

What turned me off on the NXZT H2 was where it says in the review "not a true soft mounting system" for the hard drives, and that vibrations were being felt and heard.

It's true of most cases. Worse in the flimsier Coolermasters, I guarantee. The only one completely free of this is the Solo 1/2, with its elastic suspension. OK, some rubber grommets are still better than others, but the differences are modest when compared to that between true suspension & grommets. I have a WD Green TB in mine using standard mounting, and I don't hear it. There's a small amount of vibration I can feel with my fingertips, but again, it's not audible. The case is sitting on carpeting & underlay. Maybe it would be more significant on a hardwood floor, but that would be true for any case.

Why the ANTEC Basiq BP550Plus? Has it been reviewed somewhere or by someone as being quiet? Not by me. I would strongly recommend one of Antec's TruePower modesl -- I reviewed them and found them to be pretty quiet -- or a Seasonic S-12 II. Better yet, Seasonic X series or 500-550w Kingwin Platinums....

Not the Corsair TX650. The other 2 should be about the same, though I haven't examined the SEASONIC S12 Energy Plus 650 specifically. The Antec Trupower is probably your "safest" bet.

Hi guys
place my order on Monday but found out that the G SKILL Ram that i pick up is high-profile and cannot be installed because the large CPU heatsink .
so i was thinking about this one :http://www.avadirect.com/product_info.asp?PRID=16341 its more cheep but its 1333MHz and not 1600MHz as the G SKILL , but i don't know if this specific KINGSTON Memory are the one.
is anyone can help me to pick up the right one? i don't really know which brand are better then other and what spec of ram i need ?
Thanks

I always use Kingston RAM because I've never had a problem with it. Right now I'm using 4GB of Kingston's 1333 ValueRAM in my desktop and it's worked without a hitch since install. It is probably noteworthy that it is very low profile. The DIMMs are 0.74" tall.
