recommend a cpu cooler

Post by preacher » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:31 am

Hi, I am just buying the last part for a new build. I have downsized from my antic p180 case (just too big), and moved to an i5. Keeping a lot of my current bits. Need advice on what cpu cooler to get.

i will be using it for work and play but stick to a console for any gaming so theres no graphics card. Would like it as quiet as possible and have bought some floor tiles to line the case with.

the build:

case - Lian Li PC-A05FNB
mobo - Asrock mATX z77
CPU - 2500k
RAM 2* 4BG G Skill Ripjaw X 1600MHz
128GB M4 and 2TB WD Green Drive
Xfi sound card

any recommendations for a decent cpu cooler? My budget is £30 but will stretch it if it will get me something really good.

I'd vote for Xigmatek Gaia SD1283 + Nexus/Noctua/Scythe pwm fan. Because the stock fan is not the best.

Thanks for the link. I went for an Arctic freezer i30 in the end. Not sure if it's going to fit in my case and if a mATX board can hold its weight, but if te stock fan is too loud will change it to a pen fan.
