Fortress FT02 Original 180mm fan vs New AP181

Post by Oubadah » Thu Jul 05, 2012 6:48 pm

Who has compared the two models?

I'm actually looking at a TJ08-E, but it has one of the AP181 fans in it. Some folks are saying this fan is loud. I have an FT02 with the old style fans in it, so if someone could tell me if the AP181 is louder or quieter than the older model 180, I'll know roughly what to expect from the TJ08-E.

I have an SST-FN181

It is loud, at least compared to a good 120mm. Here is why:

Based on reviews here it would be louder than the older fans, but that could be just the controller voltages.

I "upgraded" my FT02 from the old type fans (with removable honeycomb grills) to the APs.
No difference in temps, but slightly increased noise. However, the APs spin at slightly higher RPMs so that could account for the noise.
