Does anyone make fan vent covers?
I'm building a file server in an older Cooler Master RC-590 case. The case has two top fan openings, two door fan openings, and even a fan opening in the door behind the motherboard tray.
I want to cover these fan vents. I can use duct tape or something similar, but would like to find something neater. Does anyone make vent covers that are mounted using screws?

Probably not. But instead of only using tape, you could tape some material on the fan openings. For example black cardboard, black paper or black clothes.

Get two of these, and bolt them onto the two gratings:

But in between the filter and the grating, place some black plastic or paper that you have cut out into a 120mm circle.
These might work as well:

And these you can use without even bothering with bolts:

or you could just attach some sound dampening foam with double sided tape.

Some foams come with the sticky already attached, see:starsky wrote:or you could just attach some sound dampening foam with double sided tape.

Though I am not so certain how easy it is to remove such foam once you have applied it.

Haven't seen vent covers, even in enthusiast shops, so I think it'll have to be DIY. I dislike tape, as it is often a messy solution.
If there is a place that sells industrial supplies nearby, they might have suitable plastic on sale. The modding classic of a PMMA ("plexiglas") side window could well be applied to a smaller scale here: cut pieces, drill or screw holes, attach, done. Might even get a nice transparent effect to boot!

Thanks, now I feel embarassed; why did I search for "fan cover" when it's obviously a "fan mount cover". First hit is the Puget.Luke M wrote:Puget makes them.

I have the same case, I've swapped the side panels round (so that the two large openings are against the motherboard tray). I just used duct tape to cover the other openings - it works fine and hasn't fallen off like I thought it might.

Mountain Mods make a clear acrylic one for 120mm. http://www.mountainmods.com/mountain-mo ... p-150.html
