Thanks. Just checked and Microcenter has the 3220 too. But niether has the 3225 :-(
Microcenter's CPU prices are usually lower than the Egg, but not in this case.

Microcenter has now lowered the price of the i3-3220 to $109.99 which is $20 less than NewEgg. That didn't take long. :-)
Hopefully that paves the way to a reasonably priced 3225, however I just found it at TigerDirect for $144.99 which is not a great price.

CPU World has the release info. It includes new Celeron (SNB based), Pentium (SNB and IVB), i3's and i5's, as well as some SNB CPU price cuts. Yay!

Maybe an IVB-based Mac Mini update will come out soon :)

i3 prices tend to be a bit too close to i5's but that Ivy Pentium G2120 was good news for budget systems. :)

Is the Mac Mini using desktop or notebook CPU?

mod edit: Oh man, not enough caffeine...I destroyed part of your post when I just meant to grab the quote for a reply. I'm so sorry!

Alas, Apple tends to grab the guts from the low end MacBook and stuff it in the Mini's form factor. But, a man can dream :)

MicroCenter's in-store price for the i5-3570K is only $45 more. Tough decision. If I think I really want HD 4000, but I don't really need an i5, then perhaps that $45 could be better spent elsewhere in the system. I don't really know.

Is that the recipe for the iMac series as well, or do those get desktop parts?

The 2011 iMac is a mix. Desktop CPU and mobo, laptop HDD, etc.

Anyone get one yet?

I ordered a i3-3225 this morning on NewEgg. But they ran out of them before they could fill my order.
The CPU showed as in stock when I placed the order, but then later today I got a eMail from them stating that they ran out before they got to fill my order, and that they voided the order.
They have a good policy in that they didn't ever charge my card for the order. This gives me the freedom to either buy elsewhere, or wait until NewEgg gets them back in stock and re-order it.
Excellent communication from them via eMail as well.

Just following up... I got a i3-3225 from MicroCenter the day they got them in stock, (the 17th) for $129.99 (in store price). They showed 7 in stock that day, and I think they are out of stock of the 3225 at the moment. Though they have the 3220 in stock for $99.99 (in store price).

As predicted a fairly modest increase in performance
Buyers will have to decide if the improvements are worth the price over the older models.
