Anyone seen this before..

http://www.koolnquiet.co.uk/index.php?m ... &cat_id=37

very tempting.. very expensive... i would need to read reviews to be sure it worked sufficiently, looks pretty nice though

Here's the translation from Innovatek's webpage
HTCS radiator

Overview:

The HTCS radiator is passive High ending a radiator that perfectly independently and free standing to be used can. Contrary to all past radiators it does not have to be fastened to or in the PC.

Not only the imposante size and height of 46cm (= in approximately as highly as 20 a "monitor!! or the Top processing lets an absolute piece of designer become from the HTCS radiator - it is a eyecatcher on each desk and cools thereby 100% loudless and very efficiently.
It justifies thereby a new generation of radiators, which Top Design connects with practical use.

Dual flow system:

Absolute Clou is thereby the integrated dual flow flow guidance inside the HTCS.
Like the illustration (fig. down) is perfectly free standing installed the 4 convection columns and has at the upper end no visible cooling agent guidance shows e.g. hoses or other connecting pieces. The columns are connected only at the lower surface by an extremely complex and complex attachment technology and cooling agent guidance with the trailer.

The result of this extremely complex and expensive procedure is on the one hand the absolutely singular optics and on the other hand the extreme cooling performance with this special channel process by this procedure is made possible. The cooling duct length is substantially longer thereby than with a conventional system.

Application:

The HTCS is set up first in any place in the proximity of the PC's. Here a place on the desk offers itself naturally, in order to come also into the benefit of this sight. Then the radiator must be connected only in place of a conventional radiator with the help of the enclosed innovaSpezial hose with the water cooling system in the PC.
With the straight bulkhead links likewise contained in the scope of supply or with the rubber lead-in ferrules the Schlaeuch is led by the housing wall. Alternatively the hoses can be put naturally also by an Slot opening, with which the cover was removed.
Now there's a great phrase: 100% loudless :D

EDIT: Here's another big radiator from Innovatek - Konvekt O Matic

Is it capable of sustained cooling though!? not clear where the water paths are, you'd assume all around both radiators with those star arrangements of fins along it... not sure if the surface area is big or not.. I was considering a ThermoChill HE120.3 as shown here

http://store.over-clock.com/ThermoChill.html

its similar height to those radiators but can take up to 6 fans.. surely the others can't hope to be fanless on demanding loads.. I'd like it if they were though...

if anyone can even find acknowledgment of this radiator online i'd appreciate links.. trying at a forum specialising in water cooling may help.. will try as soon as i can..

i cant imagine that being very good expecially as its quite small. temps with that cant be very good.

Some people have build their own custom rads out of copper piping and have long lengths of these built in a grid pattern hanging off a side of the case, it is a lot of tubing, but works passively very well.

The HTCS passive rad will handle ANY processor according to the factory.

There is also a new larger innovaKonvekt-O-Matic, the MAXI. It's 10 cm taller and has two more profiles.

Well, that depends on what you put into the meaing of beeing able to cool "ANY processor".
If you assume the processor is not overclocked and you accept CPU temp to go up to 25*C over case temp then I am sure it will work fine as a passive cooler.

However the cooler does look quite good. I hope to see some review of it what can specify C/W numbers and water temp values.

Seal, your example with the copper piping you could estimate the surface area and compare with the surface area of this cooler. A quick estimate says that this cooler has 10.000 cm^2 or more surface area.
That should be able to provide a substantial amount of cooling.
Since the cooler is outside of the case you get delta temps compared to ambient rather than case temps, so you can get quite efficient cooling.

I think it wouldn't be too hard to make something the same size that's better and cheaper but less cool-and-funky-looking.

P.S. Please, please use the [url=http://www.somewhere/blah]text[/url] BBCode tags for long links! Having to scroll sideways is so annoying.

I dont know about surface area but there are many good ideas on www.procooling.com forums as those guys are watercooling experts. For taht price its definately not worth the money, i use a heatercore with a 120mm fan blowing air across it set at 4.5V (rheo) and its capable of cooling a heavily overclocked JUHIB 1700+ to xp2600+ equivalent speeds at under 45 deg C full load.

Alot cheaper and i'd imagine. saying that though i cant speak from experience as i havent tried the innovatec one, would be very interested in seeing a review for it though.
