PSU for my silent gaming build.
I am making a new build with the Fractal Mini.
I5 3570K
Asus Gene V
2x8GB Dominator ram
Asus GTX 670 TI
Samsung 830 256 GB
I am looking for a very quiet/silent PSU, can anyone recommend me one?
Are the new corsair AX760i any good?

Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
What components are you using? Then we might be able to work out power draw, 760W does seem like a lot.

Suggestion: edit your post to include your other threads...that show the other components.
Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
So many choises don't know what to go for
I just assembled everything in the Fractal mini.
So far I5 3570, asus Gene V, 2x8GB Corsair dominator, Asus GTX 670 instead of 660, Fractal Mini, Noctua U12P-SE2.
So I need a really quiet PSU and some decent fans, intake/exhaust & PWM scythe for the noctua.

Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
That system will be less than 300W all in. A decent quality 400-500W with 2x 6-pin PCI-E connectors would be best. The Seasonic G-450 perhaps?
Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
If your budget allows you to, then a Seasonic X PSU or one of the high-end models from Kingwin.
Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
The budget does not mather, I just want a quiet one.
What about the Seasonic Platinum Series Fanless 520 W ? Would it heat up to much in the Fractal mini with my components?
Else I might wait for the new Seasonic platinum ones that are not totally fanless

Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
The fanless would do fine in there at the bottom back of the case. If you have the money the 520W would give some headroom for any sort of future build, so why not. The 400W Platinum would also be more than enough, but it's not a whole lot less expensive either. I don't like splurging in general, but if I do, I'd rather do it on the power supply.
Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
Hmm I am really thinking if I should get a passive or not.. not really sure. It will bring extra heat I guess.
I want to build my system as quiet as possible.

Re: PSU for my silent gaming build.
Hmm, if the system consumes 200 W at load, and the efficiency of the PSU is 85-90% at 200W, then it will dissipate ... 20-30 W? That's not a lot compared to the amount of heat dissipated by the CPU and GPU.karkee wrote:Hmm I am really thinking if I should get a passive or not.. not really sure. As it has been mentioned, some PSU's only turn the fan on when the PSU reaches a certain load (usually around 200 W). Look at any Seasonic X or Platinum series PSU with a built-in fan. These fans will only turn on at around 200 W. This also applies to the Kingwin Lazer Stryker.
