I figure this is the most appropriate thread for my question.
I'm looking to get a DH77EB. I'm wondering about the bios fan control.
What's the lowest setting you can put your fans with Intel fan control? I mean does it have some fixed rpm or %?
I'll probably be using two Akasa Apache 120mm PWM fans which rpm range is 600-1300rpm or the Scythe Slip or Glide Stream PWM (not the adjustable) which RPM range is if I recall correctly 300-1300rpm.
If the fan control can run the fans at their lowest setting then great
Even better if it can spin down the fans when they're unnecessary (very deep idle)
This going to be a upgrade for my current HTPC:
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H r1.1 | Athlon II X2 240 + NH-U12P w/o fan | HD5670 w/ Accelero S1r2 | S12II-330 | 4GB DDRII
Lian Li PC-A05N + 1xSS 120 800rpm(~400rpm) + 1x GT 1450rpm(~600rpm) | Samsung 830 64GB | WD1001FALS
Silence is of course paramount
Hopefully the setup will be like this:
Intel DH77EB | Intel Pentium G2120 + NH-U12P w/o fan | HD5670 w/ Accelero S1r2 | S12II-330 | 4GB DDR3 1600 CL9 1.35v or 1.50v
Lian Li PC-A05N + 2x SS/GS PWM or Apache PWM | Samsung 830 64GB | WD1001FALS
Even now the current setup is pretty darn silent except for the PSU which tends to start humming after watching TV on WMC (Win7) for a longer time or watching movie/series using MPC-HC+madVR. Been thinking about PSU upgrade but it isn't on the top of my priority list, but will probably go with either a picoPSU or a Rosewill Tachyon 550w Platinum+ if I can find a review which would show it's efficiency with 10% and below loads..
