Help needed with a DC-DC converter

Post by Milli » Sun Jan 27, 2013 7:40 am

Hi, I'm interested in a MS-Tech case that includes a 60W AC adapter and a DC-DC converter. I've included a picture of the DC-DC converter. I would like to know if anyone is skilled enough to see what the max load would be for this converter. I want to know if it would be possible to use a higher rated (~80w) AC adapter without frying the converter under load and if using a higher rated adapter would actually allow the converter to supply more power.

These DC-DC adaptors normally use a 12V pass through. Therefore the 12V lines is limited by the PSU brick, not the board. If you have the specs for it take a look at what it lists for the different voltages. The lower voltage lines will still be limited to whatever the board specs for that individual line but the 12V could be much higher.

Oh and that fan grill on the inside of the case has to go! Does that let ANY air through? It will also add noise in air turbelence. Maybe you want it covered still but you can get simple wire grills which would allow better airflow at lower sound levels too.

Thank you for the quick reply. Much appreciated.
I don't own the case yet. This is just a picture I found on the net. But I agree, those things are quite ridiculous.
