Noctua NH-L12 + NF-P14 - Temps down ~7C

Post by guestHITA » Sat Sep 15, 2012 1:22 pm

I replaced the 120mm fan that comes bundled with the Noctua NH-L12 with the larger NF-P14 140mm PWM fan.

Result:
CPU temps went down ~7C

Nice - what rpm are you seeing during the test?

I have one question:

Does swapping the fan allow a more stable overclock or just reduced temps while oc'ing the same amount?

at bestcit may allow a few more mhz

dont do it unless youre going to use the p12 as a casefan

can we infer from the above, that on the Noctua NH-D14, we should replace the 120 mm fan w/ 140 mm fan, so 2 x 140 mm fan can cool the CPU temperature further down?

for that matter, why doesn't Noctua do that in the first place?

Unfortunately, you cannot infer anything, because you do not know any of the test circumstances. For all we know, he could have switched from a slow 120mm to a fast 140mm fan.
