No worrries, 1150 uses the same mounting standard as 1156 and 1155.

Anyone know the size of the block the top plate will fit onto?

I am wondering if it is compatible with IFX-14; not listed on Thermalright's site, but Silver Arrow is.....

Edit: Some European sites are listing the kit as being for the IFX-14 as well as the Silver Arrow.

Bought one of these today from my local supplier here in the UK. Interestingly there is nothing on the box or in the instruction leaflet about compatibility, apart from the fact that the separate LGA2011 support in the previous BTK is now integrated into this one. There was a previous Thermalright mounting kit in 1366 fitting that was specific to the IFX-14 so it is not clear to me if the BTK II would fit. Didn't the IFX-14 have a special backplate that mounted a additional heatsink through a pair of long heatpipes?

Here's the reply from Thermalright:
Hey Steve,

Thanks for bring up the issue to me.

As far as I learned, the new socket 1150 use the same mounting holes as the existing socket 1155/1156. So, yes, the Venomous-X Bolt-thru Kit will take socket 1150 as well. And also, IFX-14 will be able to use Ven-X BT kit, too.

Please feel free to ask if I can be any help.

Best regards,

Chris Lee

Thanks Steve.
(Maybe Thermalright only respond to email requests from USA?)

I am still a little confused though. The BTK from the Macho rev.A is not compatible with the IFX-14 due to the different sized cpu block. (The top plate from the Macho is too small to fit properly on the IFX block.) If this new kit fits well on the IFX-14 the top plate would be too wide to fit well on the smaller block of the Macho, yet Thermalright lists it as compatible with the HR-02. Does the Macho have a different sized block to the original HR-02?

Yes, exactly right. You would lose this extra functionality with the new BTK backplate, but real world impact would be minimal; iirc reviews at the time claimed it only made a 1°C (or less) difference, hardly worth the headaches from trying to fit it in the case! The mounting system was never that solid with the original IFX-14 kit, it would be interesting to see how it would perform with a superior mounting kit.

Can anyone verify that this works with the HR-01 Plus? They say it works with the HR-01, but I want to be absolutely sure that it also works with the Plus version before I order it.

The coolers share the same base, so VX BTK II will work just fine with the HR-01 Plus.
