Hey guys,

I just got myself an i5-3470 CPU, and I replaced the stock cooler with a Thermaltake Contac 16 and it works great. In full load (Prime 95) it barely hits 54 deg Celsius.
But the problem is, the cooler fan has a 3 pin connection to the MB, so the fan speed cannot be adjusted dynamically. This means it's pretty loud (at 2400RPM) all the time.

So I was thinking of replacing the 92mm fan (which is detachable) with this one.
A Noiseblocker Blacksilent XE1 fan.

Is it ok to replace the Heatsink fan with a case fan?
I read something about the case fan not having enough pressure, but I'm not really sure what to make of it.

What do you guys think ?

You'll definitly need a four pin fan, also called PWM fan.

Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPRO PE-P, 92x92x25mm, 500-1800rpm, 14-65m³/h, 3-20dB(A) would be the suited Noiseblocker modell.

Yes, I know, the Blacksilent XE1 is a 4 pin fan.
I was just wondering if it is ok to fit it on the cpu heatsink, considering it's a case fan.
