750 watt power supply
I was looking at the new Corsair RM750 and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it?
Here's my setup (only reason getting 750 instead of 650 is it's only $10 more):

Re: 750 watt power supply
Your setup should be fine even with 550W, my bet is wont even reach 400W on load. I would give a shot to the new Corsair RM series,
CORSAIR RM Series RM650 $120
CORSAIR RM Series RM750 $130
Or if you have a bigger budget and want platinum cert,
Seasonic SS-660XP2 $150
Seasonic SS-760XP2 $170
CORSAIR RM Series RM650 $120
CORSAIR RM Series RM750 $130
Or if you have a bigger budget and want platinum cert,
Seasonic SS-660XP2 $150
Seasonic SS-760XP2 $170
Re: 750 watt power supply
Not yet. It was just released a few weeks ago with first reviews last week.majax79 wrote:I was looking at the new Corsair RM750 and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it?

More probably that not, such a system should pull from the PSU 190-250W at most (to which you may add another 30W for oc'ing, if you mind).
Definitely something like a Seasonic P400FL2 would be better suited, and at least in Europe, noticeably cheaper (not to mention it should be a far better PSU than a Corsair RM 750, electrically).
Re: 750 watt power supply
The 400FL only has one 6/8 PCIe power connector and more powerful graphic cards need two. Seasonic makes an extra cable, but not even the german distributor knows about it much less can get it for you. That's why for my current setup (3570K/670GTX) I bought the 460FL, because it has two PCIe connectors.quest_for_silence wrote:Definitely something like a Seasonic P400FL2 would be better suited, and at least in Europe, noticeably cheaper (not to mention it should be a far better PSU than a Corsair RM 750, electrically).

Thanks for the clarification, boost: at any rate, being single rail for the 12V, probably a generic dual LP4 molex to 8pin PCIe adapter - even using both the two bundled peripheral cables - should work well (and let you spare about 20-30 bucks), shouldn't it?
Re: 750 watt power supply
I've built a system with a HD7970 powered with a G-360. Only one 6p PCIe power connector, had to use a 2 x molex to 8p PCIe power adapter. Full load is a bit north of 300W, but it's a 360W quality PSU. Works fine but nowhere near quiet of course. :)boost wrote:The 400FL only has one 6/8 PCIe power connector and more powerful graphic cards need two. But that's that PSU, Vicotnik, not its wattage!
Re: 750 watt power supply
I don't trust adapters for higher loads so I bought the PSU that has all the cables I need. The price difference was 12€ (I think) same as for a spare cable or some adapters.quest_for_silence wrote:boost wrote:The 400FL only has one 6/8 PCIe power connector and more powerful graphic cards need two. Just for the sake of talking, those adapters are made of the same cables used by Seasonic or other premium brand manufacturer; I've used four of them to power two GTX 460 with a 350W Enermax PSU for almost a year without any browning/blackening on the molex connector: this latter should have a 11A per pin current rating, so any Y adapter should carry more than 250W (I guess enough for any modern high end single GPU card).
Anyway when the difference is as small as you paid, there's a very little convenience to use them: here in Italy the P460FL comes usually at about 30% more than a P400FL, so it may worth.
Re: 750 watt power supply
Just because you can hook up a connector does not mean it will 100% work. It probably will for a card that you might have but it wouldn't be safe to use with any given card as a higher power card might push it over the edge. PSU manufacturers will take this into account when speccing up connectors that they put on a PSU. For example unless they can guarantee being able to supply a full 150W down the line, they won't put 2x6-pin PCI-E connectors on. It might still work with an adaptor but your mileage may vary as they will not guarantee it.

I'm not sure of what you are saying (maybe due to my limited english), but you're welcome.
Re: 750 watt power supply
This is not rocket science. As long as one has a basic understanding of electricity, the use of adapters are safe. It's mainly making sure the wires can handle it. Come on people, are we creating beautiful systems or are we following IKEA assembly instructions? ;)edh wrote:Just because you can hook up a connector does not mean it will 100% work. Re: 750 watt power supply
Thanks for the information. I ended up selecting the 760(SS-760XP2).
