Case review request Silverstone ML06

Post by wayner » Fri Jan 10, 2014 9:44 am

Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this, but please point out which forum is and I will move the thread.

Silverstone has a new miniITX case that is very similar in size to the Antec ISK300 although it is oriented with the long side as the front. Is it possible that SPCR can do a review, particularly noting what CPU coolers will fit in the case and whether LP RAM is required.

IMHO the case looks very nice, much nicer than the Antec:

Just wondering what makes it different from the recently reviewed Silverstone ML05 mini-ITX HTPC case

Good point - I didn't see the ML05 review - it looks like the difference is a black vs silver faceplate.

As Emily Litella used to say - Never mind.

If you are thinking of getting the Silverstone ML06 case, I recommend downloading the users manual from the Silverstone site.
http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.p ... 57&area=en

The users manual has some good info including clearance data for the CPU heat sink. I ordered this case recently from Amazon but it has not arrived yet. I plan to mount a 3.5 inch drive on the 4 in 1 bracket, so that leaves 37mm of vertical space for the heat sink (according to the users manual). I ordered one of these Titan low profile heat sinks which has a vertical dimension of only 30mm.

I don't know yet exactly how much vertical space is available for the RAM, but I did order some low profile stuff which I am confident will fit.

Anyone running one of these with a 3.5" HDD?

Are there improvements from the ML05 in that regard?
