H97/Z97 thread

Post by CA_Steve » Sat May 17, 2014 12:10 pm

Thought I'd start a generic '97 chipset/mobo thread for discussion of the new features, oddities, etc. The PC Perspective youtube interview with JJ of Asus were worth watching (ok - they were worth watching while playing WoW :D, with the occasional wait-what? moment). The UEFI Fan control functionality looks great as well as the Fan Xpert III recognition of PWM vs Voltage control for chassis fans, the ability to disable chassis fans in a profile, 20% speed, etc.

Good news for DAW enthusiasts - WAY better DPC latency for the new chipset. Anandtech saw 70us for the Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H and 92us for the ASUS Z97-Deluxe compared to the 145us+ for all '87 boards tested.

Hardware.info saw idle power ranging from 26W to 43W for 19 mobos compared to 26-49W for Z87 mobo's tested. So far, similar on the low end, maybe a little tighter on the high end.

All Z97 board now support true pwm in uefi bios ? or just Asus ?
Does Gigabyte Z97x Gaming 5 support separated control on 4pins headers SYS_FANx, by true pwm I mean for example using pwm splitter(I/O signal from mb, 12v from psu) on sys_fan1 and get all fan on pwm splitter working as expected.
Anybody owning a Z97 board and confirm ?
