YS Tech 8125 Silent Fan

Hi All,

Just thought I would let you know that this fan on paper looks great.

20db 27CFM 1850RPM

However, it vibrates like a bucking bronco. I installed one into the front of my Coolermaster ACTS201 and it sounded like a train.

My initial impressions were great as I had it running in free-air, and it certainly is very quiet, but as soon as it comes into contact with a solid surface like a desk or aluminium chassis then the vibrations take over.

I have tried mounting in on pieces of cut out mouse-mast to act as a shock absorber - but no joy. The only effective way to use this fan in near to silent mode is to mount it with blue-tack.

YES it is cheap (£6) - but the cost saving is not by you but buy YSTech in build quality.

Oh well, once again I learn the hard way. You get what you pay for...

Did you try the YS-Tech at 5 or 7 volts ?

So youre saying the blades or some other component is heavy and thus causing a lot of vibration?

The fan is a lot cheaper than other silent fans. Hmm.

I wonder what its like when properly cecoupled?

ive got a YS-Tech silent in my psu at the mo. seems quite quiet but then again, i;ve never used a Panaflo or papst low noise fan.

Will have to try 7 Volting it..

hehe, its the tacky blue stuff

it comes in a lil sheet form. u can tear of a bit and mould to any shape. its like plasticine but sticky.

also it has low resonance, the most likely reason its been used this in this situation.

btw, i just 5 volted my YS-Tech silent. (not my psu one. just a case fan in another puter)
It started fine and is still going.
had trouble hearing it when testing out of the case
