Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
My MSI GTX1080 Gaming X just arrived, and its very quiet, idles around 43C well depends on what you are doing, but around there, i dont hear any coil whine. I played 30min of overwatch (my GTX980Ti used to reach 83C) this card reached 62C, 45% PWM just shy of 1000rpms, cant hear it at this rpms. Im having second thoughts into installing the MK26, will see over the weekend.
Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
Cool. What framerates are you getting with Overwatch @ 2160p?
Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
Please, MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X has two fan headers? Is it independent fan control? By the pics, I can see two headers, but... I don't know.
Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
Sry Steve, couldnt do your test, i tried but even vsycn off and limiter off the frames keep steady at 60fps, seems its more the Gsync. I leave you couple of screenshots,CA_Steve wrote:Cool. What framerates are you getting with Overwatch @ 2160p?
The card is very nice for someone looking for quiet operation, im still thinking on trying the MK26, but 63C while gaming is pretty low, and i cant hear the card as it is, ill play other games and see how it behaves noise wise and ill decide there, else the MK26 + TY147A will be shelved for the GTX1080Ti. Btw gona test WOW next =P
Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
Abula, do you think that an MK-26 with a pair of Slip Stream 500rpm can cool an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X?

Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
Maybe, but probably will be kinda risky, but it should be able to, the problem is that my experience with a higher tdp card (GTX980Ti) and mk26 is that i needed the full 1k rpms of the Prolimatech ultra sleek vortex 140, so this being lower tdp.... you might be able to. I do think its best to get something like the slipstreams PWM that should give you 300 to 1300rpm range, and the cards like MSI can control aftermarket pwm fans, the prolimatech has a converter.lb_felipe wrote:Abula, do you think that an MK-26 with a pair of Slip Stream 500rpm can cool an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X?
Overall i dont recommend going aftermarket with the GTX1080, i think there are good options like Zotac and MSI that are good as they come, that said if you go with mk26 share your temps and experience with it, i have mine sitting on the shelf but it will wait for the Ti.

Sadly the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X performed well below the Palit GTX 1080 GameRock PE in terms of noise.

Palit Gamerock added. Yeesh, there's some script at Kitguru that totally locks up my browser for 5-10 sec as it attempts to load past NoScript/etc...

Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
I'd say about the same here on SPCR: with ABP and NoScript my browser is much more responsive, without them it even locks while reading the forum/articles.CA_Steve wrote:Yeesh, there's some script at Kitguru that totally locks up my browser for 5-10 sec as it attempts to load past NoScript/etc...
Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
<puzzled>My problem at KitGuru is the opposite than yours here: with ABP and NoScript active KitGuru locks up. Anyway, back to graphics cards...quest_for_silence wrote:I'd say about the same here on SPCR: with ABP and NoScript my browser is much more responsive, without them it even locks while reading the forum/articles.CA_Steve wrote:Yeesh, there's some script at Kitguru that totally locks up my browser for 5-10 sec as it attempts to load past NoScript/etc...

It is true. Apparently there is not any review of either 8G or A8G. All reviews are of O8G.quest_for_silence wrote:lb_felipe wrote:ROG STRIX-GTX1080-O8G-GAMING

Please, add this: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zot ... p_Extreme/
Best benchmarks scores, quietest GeForce GTX 1080 tested by TPU, only 29 dB(A) of SPL (TPU standards) and best scored TPU's GeForce GTX 1080.
Is it the new king? Before anyone says Palit GameRock is it, I'd remind you that THG (referred above) has rated it as noisy! (I think is relative to coil whine). So, might we say that Zotac is the best?
I remember a guy from here has that one. He might comment about that.

Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread
I have read the review more calmly and I believe now that Zotac is a bad choice.

It’s funny. While the TPU was not thrilled by the noise of the card, TR measured the lowest dBA values, and found the sound characteristics very good.CA_Steve wrote:Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme Edition @Techpowerup added.
