PC Power & Cooling Silencer?

Post by pandamonium54 » Mon Jan 13, 2003 11:07 pm

Has the Panaflow been bested?
Silencer: 28CFM @ 20dBa
Panaflow: 24CFM @ 21dBa
Vantec Stealth: 27.5CFM @ 21dBa

If these numbers are indeed accurate, then why do I see people advocating the use of Panaflows with such high frequency? I own three Silencers, and they seem pretty quiet to me. If the Panaflows produced a less annoying noise with the same air pushing power, I'd consider a switch - but 24CFM????

Also, as a downside, my Silencers all use the hard drive power cables. (are these molex?) I'd like to move to a fan bus to reduce cable clutter, but I need a cheap solution. (poor college boy) Any recommendations?

see comments about these fans in SPCR's recommended fans page -- on main site. In direct comparisons, Panaflos actually seem to blow more air, IMO.
