Fans for Pentium/AMD K6

Post by BillyBuerger » Thu Jan 16, 2003 11:20 am

I have some old Pentium/AMD K6 PCs and the fans on those things are noisy! Does anyone know where I could find better fans for them? I heard someone mention a Pabst 40mm. Or if there were any funnels or anything for connecting a 60mm fan or something along those lines.

Thanks!

If you have a moderately sized heatsink on those, you could most likely run them without fans. As long as you've got some case airflow.

Though I would like comments from others as well..

Well actually, I can remember once when the fan died on my AMD. It didn't last long before it crashed. So to do it with no fan, it would require a good sized HS. Which I wouldn't mind that either. It just seems hard to find anything that fits these anymore. I ended up having to buy one from Radio Shack when the fan died. I think I paid at least $15 for it.

I've got rather miniature heatsinks on both my P2 and my K6. Plan to be replacing both of them with the Zalman northbridge heatsink, as its noticeably larger than either of the ones I have now, and its fairly cheap.
