Nice one fine people of SPCR!! Another good thing about folding, as MikeC has pointed out in not so many words, is that it's all fine and good to have a stable, cool and silent box while idling, but can it maintain the strain of 24/7 folding?? That's much more of a challenge as I found out after killing a PSU on a hot summer day  Or to quote TRC-13 (the skin he created for EMIII at least), our folding champion, "Can you hear it Folding?"

Fold on!

Welcome to SPCR's Folding@Home team. Stop by and introduce yourselves!

Hi, I figured that since I have my 'work' PC on 24/5 (I turn it off on weekends) and at the moment I don't do much with it, it might as well do some extra work.

It's only a Duron 1.3 but it's better than nothing.
I also have an XP2100+ at home, but I only turn it on when I need to - been trying to silence it for ages so I've given up.

Cheers

Thanks, you make me feel so welcome... *sniff*

This folding thing is addictive. I feel like my PCs have a purpose now.

Now to test my awesome new signature to show off my awesome stats...

We seem to have experienced an unprecedented influx of new blood. I suspect ArtCubed and Artcubed are one and the same, but I don't recognize any other names. EOC lists 124 active users, which is also the highest I have seen in my few months of folding.

That'd be one of my friends that I finally convinced to run Folding. Now to get him actually interested.

Thanks again for the wolcome. SPCR folding@home really seems to be a team on the move at the moment and I'm glad to be a part of it.

So far I've turned in 2 work units totaling 46 points! but there's another 36 pointer on the way so we've made a start. I should hopefully be able to get another machine going in a couple of weeks too which will hopefully speed my ascent through the ranks of inactive folders.

Kemokim is listed by EOC as a new member, but on the stats page he/she is listed in 247th place as 'gray', with no production in the last 30 days, with 1 WU worth 70.90 points. Can anyone explain this?

You have to go to the third page to find the following new folders, but they are there, and on their way to the Top 200! :D

Welcome Kemokim!

I suspect that this "behavior" is normal, and I've just not paid close enough attention before. Kinda weird though.

Ugly_Dog starts his folding career gagged with a 70.90 pointer. Keep the faith Ugly_Dog, Stanford has a bad habit of giving the "newbies" a Tinker to work on.

Here is a little info on this project:
Quote:
A completely new folding target - this is a subdomain of the ribosomal protein L9. The Raleigh group at SUNY Stonybrook has accumulated a great deal of experimental data on this system.

Kwonkers has an easier time of it with...25.89 points? Since no WU's are worth that amount, his first WU must have ended early and he was given partial credit.

Edit: According to the Kwonkers user page at Stanford, this was a project 799, but according to the Currently Running Projects page, there IS no 799. Is this a GAH (Genome@Home) work unit?

Edit2: Yes, GAH points are listed under project 799.

Welcome aboard mates.

David

Grokker, well done on the 44  place rise in the last 24Hrs according to EOC stats page: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_members.php?TeamID=31574&pagenumber=3[/url]

Actually... If you look at the Stanford pages your in position 206 not 210... So that's actually 48 places in 24Hrs

Well Done again.

Hello to all the other new folders as well. 8)

Good to have you aboard the 'Squash macosx' express.

Glad to be here at last! Unfortunately I don't have much power to throw at the effort:

- Athlon 1100 MHz (168h/week)
- Athlon 1200 MHz (40h/week)
- Pentium 450 MHz (168h/week)

But hey, I'm already thirty places from bottom - and it all helps get the Mac mentalists riled, right? ;)

Thanks wgragg. If nothing else, perhaps my pathetic sig stats will act as bait for some of the non-folding SPCR crowd who have big iron lying inactive. Come on! You know you can blow me away if you allocate even half of your clock cycles... ;)
