I have p4 2.6c, but I got a Tinker for my first one. It is still foldind, but I expect it to finish later tonight.Could it be because they are p4 2.4c's?
In fact it should have finished this morning, but because my cpu fan turned off on its own in the middle of the night The computer shut off as a security measure. The final temp was recorded at 95 degree Celsius!!!! But I think there was no harm done... yet...
On to another subject, I've been to http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/teampage?q=31574 , but can't find my username on the page (samwc912). Is this normal? I have entered the right team number in the config. Or should I do something else that I've missed? And I can't find myself anywhere in the stats.
*edited for typos*
Rechecked on the status of the work, and you're right. The WU has just been finished and I'm in the stats now. I've finished that huge 400 frames sTinker, and I'm at 8% of a new 200 Gromac.I don't think anything will get reported until the work is returned. I could be wrong on that though.
But I got 71 points for 1 WU though. So is it better to work on tinkers for getting more points or it adds up to the same doing gromacs for the same amount of time.

Actually that kind of depends. If you have a processor with SSE capabilities (you do) you will score higher with Gromacs. If your processor does not do SSE you will be scoring higher with the tinkers.
Do you know about adding tags? -advmethods etc?

Not a 'Welcome New Member' but a 'Welcome Back' to bill_amer
who returns with his celery 700 and introduces to the fold his Athlon 64
And he's got the bug to uprade.. sorry, do a necessary rebuild... with improved components
(Which hopefully will leave enough bits left over to build another box )
Might introduce him to the idea of blades
Hang on... just realised he's probably gonna be on my threats list as well soon
Oh well.. it's for the good of the team I suppose
Welcome also to all the new members we've had recently, 'Welcome to the Addiction'

Hello guys :)
I've been reading quite a few articles on this site for weeks now, so when I found about your folding@home team I decided to help.
At the moment I'm folding@work actually, but in a few weeks I'll make myself a good comp thanks to all the things I read here, and it'll fold too

Well, since I took the plunge from lurking to posting, I'll just post briefly here. I have an A64 3000+, p4 2.8, and dual p3 @ 933mhz running folding 24/7. I'm not really familiar with folding@home or how much of a contribution those machines will make, but hey--everything helps right?
Also, I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone at SPCR for all the great advice I've leeched off of you guys =)

Welcome to the both of you and all others.
Hopefully you'll enjoy your new addiction, just remember to back of a little if you get too much like NullObject
(Just wait a little and he'll reply.. denying everything. Round here he's known as 'Mr beaten to 100 by Pete' )
bcassell, I think you'll be pleased with your output off of those machines.... Well.. at least until your threats list starts to grow
Then it becomes a whole different game
Welcome, enjoy and Happy Hunting those on your 'Hits' list's.

Thanks for the welcome i fold under the name genetomcat. My challenge is to have machines that fold very quiet, as i'm sleeping in the same room with all the machines. But that's why i'm reading SPCR
I have a Shuttle Zen folding 24/7 ... it's a P4 1.8A with one lonely fan ... very quiet. The other machine is too loud right now, but better parts are on the way. It's an amd 2500+ overclocked to 3200+.
Waiting to become a folder is a PIII 1.1, overlocked to 1275 ... it's very quiet but i need another case and quiet PSU. Oh, and all those machines are using laptop harddrives, which run quiet and cool.

Time to mod it.haysdb wrote:Interestingly, the component that makes the most noise in my "blade farm" is a Tripp-Lite surge suppressor!
Reminds me of my own non-PC noise problems. Frankly, I don't care much about the noise my HTPC makes, since the fridge is usually louder. Maybe I should start SilentFridgeReview.com.
If you started a SilentLifestyleReview.com, I would join it in a heartbeat. You could do things like review Silent fridges, Silent Dishwashers, Silent Laundry Machines, Silent Cars....aston wrote:Reminds me of my own non-PC noise problems.
