I bought a P150 and MSI K8NGM2. the included psu NeoHE 430 powers up but mobo won't post. I called antec and rep told me the mobo requires a -5V line which the NeoHE 430 doesn't have. Told me the psu is too advanced for my mobo and I should get a ATX 1.3. This is a new mobo with a new chipset!

Well, I looked in the mobo's manual and the 24 pin power connector diagram doesn't show any -5V line. Emailed MSI tech and they confirmed this mobo doesn't require it.

I sent this back to Antec and said "I think you're trying to pass this problem off to someone else". A little pissy and I probably should've been more diplomati, but I was having a bad day. I guess the rep took offense because he replied by closing the ticket. No further explanation.

In the NeoHE poll a user named renethx has THREE rugs w/ neohe 430 and the same mobo and they all work w/ no problem. So I'm guessing I really have a bad psu.

(Yes I tried a different non antech psu ATX V2.03; the mobo is working. I'm using it to type this right now.)

AntecRep can you help?

My experience:

Nov 2005: I got a Sonata II and the Smartpower wouldn't start with an Albatron 925X board. It worked on my Albatron 478 board. Antec first wrote they would replace with newer, then changed their minds and said the same thing about the -5v line, but the OLD motherboard works! I suggested they send me a Truepower and pay any difference, but they would only replace with same, so I put a Fortron in the Sonata.

Feb 2006: I got a P150 and the Neo HE doesn't start with an Asus A8N-VM CSM, even though the S/N is the S0511 that should work. So I put the Smartpower from the Sonata II in the P150. The Neo HE of course works on the 478 board! The warranty void sticker was broken, suggesting it is "improved". I ordered the P150 only because I knew that the Smartpower would work.

This -5v excuse is a joke.

hmm...

I was looking at a NeoHE, and whats this fuss about the -5v line?

My mobo manual says its ATX12V 2.0 Compliant.

It also says that there is a -5v line on the main 24pin socket. (5th pin down on the right)

Its a Asus P5AD2 Deluxe.

Does this mean the NeoHE won't work because of this -5v thing?
