I’ve meant to post these pictures along with some long paragraphs of reviews, tips and thoughts about P150 and Silence back in 2005; however I’m not having lots of free time to write at the moment, so for now enjoy the pictures till the words get typed.

Is it silent?

Why do you use so many HDDs?

BR!

I'd like to know why you consider it money well spent. With the number of modifications you've done, it seems like just about any case of a comparable size would be equivalent.

Of course, you were able to use the 150's hard drive suspension, but with the reports I've heard about bands breaking, I wouldn't trust them.

I am curious, where did you get the foam?

Why so many fans? Why so many modifications? I agree with frugal guy. You could have done the same with any case. The benefit of the p150 is that you don't need to mod it...much.

I love this case. Absolutely adore it. I just want a different color scheme. Black w/ silver trim would be nice. I am so sick of the hdd vibrating my whole case (thermaltake tsunami)

Well I think I came up with the “money well spent” phrase because of a few different reasons. One was because I sold my P180, Seasonics S12 and zalman fan controller and bought cheaper stuff which all turned out to be great buys, and another reason was because some of the components used here were lying around for a long time. I’m really glad that I bought the P150, its simply the smartest case I seen, still there are room for improvements. Next step when I upgrade to a hotter components I might try some heavy-work ducting. Regarding the suspension, all I have to say is that they have been solid for me, even though I wasn’t really nice to them when installing the HDs, I’ve had elastic suspension in my previous cases but have it provided in P150 got its own class. If they break I replace them happily with better quality bands.

If you been reading the forum lately you’ll see that I respond to most threads about foams, that’s basically because I think they work. Now with the case closed Panaflo at 12v or 5v sounds both are silent. And that’s because of the foams. The rest of them room is also surrounded by foams to get the feedback out of the empty room, that’s why I got so much foams around.

The hard drives are two 250GB and one 160GB (all Samsung) and another external WD 160GB. All of them are full, sound libraries, samples cds, etc.

The case relies so much on the exhaust airflow, the coolermaster fan is off almost at all times, even though it’s silent at 6V.

So is it silent or quiet? With average ambient noise its silent even with the fans at 12v, but in very low ambient noise and fans set to 5v, the low and mid frequency noise of the hard drives are the only thing could be heard from 3 or 4 feet. Most of the noise comes from the SATA one, I’m not changing it for now till I find a very low noise 300 or 400GB drive.

You need to read the Gallery FAQ at the top of this forum. Your pictures are too large.
Quote:
DIALUP USERS NOTE: Pics here are allowed to be larger in size than in the rest of the forums. As of Oct 26, 2004, 640x480 pixel size and file sizes up to 100KB are acceptable in this forum. Smaller files are preferable, however.

P150 doesn’t look very good in pictures but it’s a very nice apple'ish white. Not that I'm a fan of apple but that white colour looks a lot better than most black cases,, lets face it, black is a very mainstream colour for PCs, The glossy white definitely looks classic.

I have read the rules, the pictures are a bit oversized to show the detailes for those who like.

So you concluded you are above those rules? They are twice as wide as is allowed. That is not a bit oversized. If you need to show any details, then you can post a smaller picture in the thread that is a link to a larger one.

spolitta,

How have you mounted that clear CoolerMaster fan? It appears to be suspended in mid air :?

Like I said, it’s actually off at all times and yes it is suspended in the air and on some cables I guess. And from the other sided it’s leaned on the side panel foams.

Thanks for your answer spolitta, but wiping out RH’s warning and reposting the large photos, wasn’t so clever. Get yourself over to http://www.imageshack.us/ and come back with some thumbnails – before Ralph extracts your thumbnails....and with no anesthetic :!:

Those foam looks very similar to the ones boxed in my Seagate RMA package. I wonder if I could use those....

Stop complaining in the topic and send a PM instead.

And AFAIK the foam can be purchased at construction markets for not much really, though it's quite thick

spolitta,

Is that a fan controller in the lower 5.25" bay? if it is, how did you install it and what model?

The reason I ask about installation is because I don't think you used the side rail attachments and I'm wondering how you did it.

I think it's the Sunbeam Rheobus Fan Controller, and my guess is he uses regular screws, not all components in a case produce noise you know

Its a Sunbeam Rheobus and it is installed using the side rails, the rheobus works a lot better than zalman controller when it comes to antec drive bay rails.

openwheelformula1,
I have many different kind of foams installed on the wall of my home studio, the foams in the computer were taken from there.

Are the holes on the side of the Sunbeam or did you have to drill the holes for mounting with Antec P150 side rails?

Only mod was done on the sunbeam was to paint the LEDs black, so put it this way Sunbeam is friendly and compatible with P150.

What's up with the top 5.25" slot? That looks like a good way for dust to get inside the case.

Neither sound or dust could travel trough the top bay because it’s filtered from both sides. This pictures show the front filters, the rear is also the same but in an opposite way. The NeoHE fan spins way too slow to make any kind of serious airflow so the filters are still pretty clean after a month.

The psu duct seems to be a fairly common p150 mod. Does the psu fan ramp up noticeably without the duct? TIA - FG
