* MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte raised or will raise motherboard prices shortly. ASUS and Gigabyte have already implemented price-hikes in February, which will reflect in store prices soon. MSI will be introducing price-hikes this month.

* Western Digital to acquire Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (one less Hard Drive manufacturer in the world). That leaves Western Digital, Seagate, Samsung, and Toshiba. as the remaining big HD manufacturers. The $4.3 billion deal will close in the third quarter of 2011. According to Passmark, which has a last 30 days Hard Drive Market Share chart, WD has already sneaked past Seagate and will become the undisputed giant in the industry after the acquisition.

Western Digital: 31.01% + Hitachi: 11.25% = ~42%

Seagate: 27.80% + Maxtor: 3.14% = ~32%

Samsung: 11.12%

Toshiba: 3.86% + Fujitsu: 1.34% = ~5%

And the rest are SSDs or specialty drives of some other type.
