Any socket-939 should work with a bios update, but we're all keeping our fingers crossed that by then someone will have produced a mobo with a chipset that ISN'T RIGHT IN THE WAY OF THE FREAKING GRAPHICS CARD!!!   Get something like a DFI Ultra-D and use the second VGA slot. Then...

I am overclocking mildly and using CnQ. With my DFI, you have to leave Vcore at "Auto" so that CnQ can alter voltages, but you can use Vcore special control to raise the voltage by percentages (+4%, +10%, ... up to +23% or so). This percentage applies to any change CnQ makes. I am running at 240x10 ...

Well, my 6800GT at stock settings uses the same 350MHz for 2D and 3D. If you do the coolbits registry hack you can then control 2D and 3D GPU clock independently. You cannot have different memory speeds though for 2D and 3D. I do not see any voltage control. Frankly, I see very little temperature di...

Exactly. For example, on my DFI Ultra-D, I can explicitly set Vcore from 0.8 to 1.5, but if I don't put it on Auto, CnQ will not adjust Vcore. It is undervoltable and cool'n'quiet capable, but not both simultaneously. I can overvolt by percentage (e.g., Auto + 4%) and still have CnQ adjust Vcore, bu...

My OCZ Platinum Rev 2 2x512MB is running nicely at 2-3-3-1T@240 at 2.8V on my DFI Ultra-D. I've had it up to 2.5-3-3-1T@266 and 2.5-4-3-1T@300. It will also do 1.5-2-2-1T@200. My 3500+ is at 240x10. If I was doing it over, I would buy a 3200+ instead since I am not using the 11 multiplier and pretty...

My nF4 temps were no worse with my hacked NB47J than the stock noisy HSF. Right now my nF4 is 11C above case temperature. I do have a nearby VF700 providing some airflow through it. I wouldn't cut off more of its fins than you need to. Wire cutters are easier to use for this than a hacksaw in my exp...

The manual is available online in PDF.
LEDs are sensitive to the polarity. Try the connectors the other way around.

Those temps are not too different than what I see with my 6800GT at Ultra speeds. It idles at ~55C and at load (RTHDRIBL) will go up to ~72C. It usually stays under 70C though. My VF700 is just a bit above minimum FanMate speed when hooked up to 12V. How are you measuring case temperature? 45C sound...

You can modify your NB47J so it fits. That should be easier than what some of us had to contend with on the DFI nF4 boards. Here is my modified NB47J with a 6800GT + VF700 above it.

Where do you see such a big price difference? I'm used to seeing them much closer in price (maybe USD 10-30 different). Then again, if it is a week when one is in low supply the prices can go up a lot, but if you can wait a little they'll come back down. I paid about USD20 more for a Winchester than...

1. DFI Ultra-D, nF4 Ultra. Cooling is passive Zalman NB47J with a nearby Zalman VF700 on a VGA that moves some air through it. 2. With a case temperature of about 31C, my nF4 is at about 45C at load. Idle was a little bit cooler, but frankly I don't think the nF4 temperature varies a whole lot by CP...

I don't know - you could set up a disk of half the normal capacity where there is only 180° of data - the other half is exactly the same, so seek times are doubled (or you can halve rotational speed). Whether that's actually feasible or not, I don't know. If it was it would already be possible. And...

With the DFI nF4, you need to leave VID at Auto in the BIOS or else CnQ cannot drop the voltage. However, you can set VID Special to 104%, 110%, etc. if you need a bit more juice for overclocking. This VID boost will be applied on top of what CnQ does to the voltage. For example, if CnQ drops the ba...

Just an update that I bought the NEC 3500A and it's the QUIETEST DRIVE I have ever owned. I sometimes have to look at the light to make sure it's spinning. It still had some noise at highest speeds, etc... but overall GREAT optical drive! i can vouch for this too. i just received in the mail an NEC...
