Ahh, okay. I made a n00b mistake Now that I understand the Black/Blue/Green difference, I actually ended up with the Black. It's worth the noise tradeoff to me to have the best write speeds, especially since it's in a good p183 case anyway. When I dump direct video to my computer using firewire (fro...

I love this forum! You guys rock! is the 780g an integrated video card? I ask because I didn't see a video card on the list. I think the - video card, - processor, and - memory get taxed to most on renders, in that order. If the load is CPU oriented, switch brands and get an Intel quad. Go...

Quiet(ish) and Safe HD Video Editor + Some Gaming
Wow! It's been a looooong time since I've been here. I need to build a new PC system, primarily used for: - HD video editing (amateur level...think nice quality online video) - recording (direct from camera via firewire). - Fast internet connection for occasional live webinar streaming - some gaming...

Been away awhile myself. 8) But back and ready for action! I'm usually hanging now over at tabletPCbuzz . (They been down for a day for maintenance) Anyway -- I just jerry-rigged some folder aluminum foil under the planner area. You couldn't even see it. I was suprised at how much of a difference it...

Best Fanless / Passive 2D Card (on a Budget)
I'm doing a downgrade / verticalgrade from a gaming-type card. No gaming these days. Mostly desktop stuff -- Desktop Publishing/MSOffice/Quark/Photoshop work. I know most of the older cards are passive. I'm just trying to figure out which budget-end cards are best now-a-days for basic 2D application...

Whatever the issue, I am actually submitting an RMA on the card. After running with the stock fan for a bit, it started to fail again. It could be unrelated, so we'll have to see. It's a good thing I didn't sell the stock fan! THe good thing is, I actually had a X800XT lying around. :o I'm in the p...

OUCH!
I started suddenly having serious problems with my AGP NX6600GT card. In "desktop mode it was fine, but the moment I tried ANYTHING 3D, it would fail. Major artifacts, stprites, games crashing, you name it. It did it even with DXDiag. It happened out of the blue. SO... after what would be a very lon...

http://www.freshjuicemedia.com/tabletpc/m_m13004.jpg Well, here's my new silent PC. It's an M1300 tablet PC by Motion. Not only is it silent (I would say pretty much literally silent) but it's also "stealth". I zip it up in the planner I purchased just for this purchase. No one can even guess I've ...

M1300 Tablet PC is on it's way! (Tablet PC Corner)
I haven't seen any current topics on the Tablet PC market, so I thought I'd start a new thread and maybe a spot for Table PC enthusiasts. My main vocation is a business consultant (well, technically a business strategist but we won't get into semantics here). I do a lot of on-site training as well a...

compressed melamine tiles That's another new one for me. I'll have to check on the price of that...not sure how to impliment. Rusty's comments about cost are confirming my suspicions...and also what my wife wrote to me in an email. Um, so after doing a little bit of research it looks like we have 2...

Do you have carpet or wood floors? What's the building construction type? (ie, wood framed low-rise vs concrete/steel high-rise) A much more effective solution would be to install an acoustic ceiling in the condo below you. But trying to broach that idea might really test the friendship with your n...

Now, what about my room? (Slightly OT, but...)
So, I know this is just a hair OT, but I couldn't find any place that seemed more appropriate to place this (because is IS slight on-topic as well). My apologies. I live on the top floor of a new condo ... with ... heh ..supposedly noise-free floorings. Well, my downstairs neighbors (which are nice ...

Maybe I just got a bad one (the blue LED 120mm fan), but maybe it's where it's placed. I'm using that one as a front intake on my Antec 3000B case (which I know is not necessary). But it is defenitely the biggest culprit for noise on my PC...even worse that the stock 120 outtake fan that came with t...

As far as I can tell, you can't. ... ... My 6800GT with stock cooling routinely broke into the 80s under extended load, so I'm not one bit worried, and nVIDIA themselves set these chips to not even ramp down for safety until past 120C. -Ed Kind of weird -- especially since everything else about MSI...

My two bits here: 1) Ordered from isellsurplus, got it, but pretty slow (maybe a week until actual processing, week and half to receipt 2) I got the 120 mm Clear/Blue Fan ... I have to say ... meh ... fair. It seems kind of noisy to me, even at low speeds controlled by my MFC. After reading through ...

Ahhh ... I guess I didn't realize how small they were. My bad. I guess my clearance needs to be no higher than about 20 mm, so Viper will have to be the one. I'm not the "modder" type. I mean, the boldest thing I've done so far is clip the wires from my Antec fan to run it to the MFC! And honestly i...

Assuming memory serves me correctly for once, that's the same one that came on my MSi NX6600GT-128VTD; it sounds like an Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer Rev. 3 on High, but smoother. I replaced mine with a VM-101. -Ed That's exactly where this came from, and I replaced it with a Vm-101 myself.. Heh. I ...
