i have never figured out why hard drives are not vacuum sealed. If they operated in a vacuum it would reduce the friction, hence lower the temp of the drive. they could then increase the rotational speed and while i am ranting. why are we still using 1 head per platter ! 2 heads would be twice as qu...

The problem is that those HDD's will only use that power when they initially spin up, after that they use very little power. It's a shame none of your hard drives support staggered spin up, as you could easilty get away with a 350w psu i would say the 550 is more than enough. can i ask why do you ha...

i have a dual 2.8 xeon system, with the same 3u passive heatsinks. I found it was safer to fix a 80mm nexus fan to each heatsink, and run them at 5v, this pushes just enough air though to keep my xpu's at room temp. I do however have 2 120mm nexus fans on the case, 1 in (on side paned feeding the cp...

I also fell into this hole. I have 6 sata drives running in my server, and i cannot read the temps of any of them You have to buy a decent raid controller that supports it, my supermicro card was cheap at $160 so it doesnt support smart. I have several temp probes tapes to the drives now, just to ke...

Doesnt CWT make PSU's for antec, so wouldnt that make antec's psu crap as well ? it may well be a poor psu, but most the reviews i saw when i bought it 1 or 2 years ago said it was identical to the Antec units ! if i rememeber correctly Epox reccomended it to me as well, and i trusted them......

the 12volt rail seems to take most fo the current draw on my system as i watch it drop to 11.7 volts and then my PC reboot's. it's fine at moderate overclocks but when i push it harder then the current draw increases My processor is capable of doing 3.9ghz, but the PSU isnt :( My pc's isnt exactly c...

Artic cooling have said that they will replace my cooler free of charge with their new version when it becomes available as they have admitted version 4 has problems with excessive noise on the majority of X800's although mine does it with 5,7 & 12 volts. might be worth emailing them to see if they ...
