Re: Quiet PSU for htpc

So far the pcp&c psu has been fairly quiet. No complaints at this time.

Re: Quiet PSU for htpc

I ended up getting the pc power and cooling silencer mk iii 400w. It was $39 after rebate and based on the seasonic s12II so I am comfortable that it should be a decent unit. If it ends up being to noisy I will re-purpous it to another computer and order either the seasonic 360 or the fanless x400. ...

Re: Quiet PSU for htpc

I am really trying to avoid a fan less solution. With the small cases htpc's use I figure a fan in the psu should be there for safety.

Re: Quiet PSU for htpc

I was looking at that unit but it is OOS at my favorite retailers.

How does everyone feel about the pcp&c silencer mkiii 400w or the seasonic S12II 430w?

edit: scratch the seasonic. I prefer modular

Re: SpeedFan: A Guide to Universal Motherboard Fan Control

Thank you so much for this guide. For years I could never really get it figured out and always ended up uninstalling it. I think I might keep it installed this time :)

Re: Main computer and gaming rig

Well on a whim and in a moment of weakness I purchased the Silverstone Fortress FT02 for my case. Probably bigger and definitely more expensive than I needed, but I succumbed to its sexiness.

Re: Main computer and gaming rig

I want to order the case from amazon so the solo II and the 550D would be available. I have had good luck with antec in the past but the solo seemed to get a lukewarm reception. Nice to see the good review here. I hope the power button issue is truly fixed. If I did go with the solo what fans would ...

Re: Main computer and gaming rig

I've never tried running two discrete graphics cards that weren't using the same driver....can you mix/match Nvidia and ATI and have them both work? That said, instead of bogging the system down with two cards (especially with an old 9800GT that idles at 35W), why not just get the appropriate GTX 6...

Main computer and gaming rig

I am setting up a system as my main computer that will also double as my gaming rig. I would like it to be quiet at most times but I would not mind if it ramps up a little when I am gaming. Because of this the Asus boards with fanxpert seem to be a good choice. I also play around with overclocking m...

ASUS P5Q Deluxe and fan control

Has anyone had any luck with the MB controlling the fans with this model? If I use the fan control in the bios it lowers the fans 150-200 rpm's but that is it. It does not adjust them for temp at all. If I turn the bios off and use speedfan things get stranger. It will bring the fans to zero and the...

No I am just using the stock profile. I am using the 8.12 version of the drivers. Perhaps it is a different bios revision or something with the 1gb cards that is making the difference.

I have the 1024 version. I cannot notice the fan noise when sitting at my desk doing everyday stuff. It idles at 38C fan at 38%. To test the card I ran furmark to push up the heat. I can get the chip to 72C and the fan goes to 74%. At this point I can hear the fan. I figure if my card is ramped up l...

Is my older Seasonic still up to the task?

Hi I am upgrading my current desktop(s) and was wondering if my PSU is still up to the task. I am doing 2 upgrades but only one system is concerning me. It consists of Asus pq5 mainboard 8GB ram e8500 cpu (possibly overclock) 1gb radeon 4850 vid 1 7200 drive (prehaps 2 in the future) 1 dvd burner 1 ...
