I had the previous version of this fan controller but stopped using it because if the extra mess from the additional cables needed, and the delay between when the thermal probes used by T-Balancer report temps and software such as Speedfan report temps. Programs like Speedfan and other such utilitie...

My 3700QBE occassionally hums and I tracked it down to the front door. One time it was humming, I held the front door, which was in the open position, and the humming stopped. I now have a piece of heavy black vinyl floor tile cut to fit the inside the front door.

I brought a Schooner and here are more comments. I chose it over other makes such as the Zalman because of the heatpipe drawing heat outside the case, my desire to passively cool my graphic card & to remove a fan to reduce noise. Also the Zalman recommends using an optional fan for my graphics card ...

Sizzle. You are most probably right. The fan most probably doesn't shift 55cfm of air as the specs say but you can say that of any fan specs from any manufacturer. Take the specs with a pinch of salt or, in same cases, a handful of salt. I'm very happy with the fan. My only wishes are the frame was ...

Studies have shown black computers perform fastest so maybe black fans cool better. Check out the 'research' at http://www.dansdata.com/black.htm. Tongue definitely and firmly in check.javascript:emoticon('') I think Dr Amanda Butts mentioned in the article is also known as Dr R U Awake (Are Y...

Silverstone FN121 fan

Performed a search for this fan here at SPCR but found nothing. Has anyone used this fan and would like to share their experiences. For the record, its specs are: 1200 rpm +/- 250 rpm 53.24 CFM 26.6 dB(A) specs taken from Silverstone's website at: http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-fn121.htm Tha...

Yes, I'm using one as my case exhaust fan. Cost $35AUD, brought from XCOM Tech(?) in Chinatown in Sydney. There is a little bit of noise when run at 12v. I've used Speedfan to turn down the speed to 80% and I can't hear it at all. Noise from my hard disks is louder. I do think it moves more air than...

I'm using a Papst 4412FGL from lownoisepc.com. It doesn't support rpm monitoring so I leave it running at full (12v) all the time. I can't hear it.

Effectiveness of Neoprene Rubber as a dampener

Products described in these forums usually are not available here in Australia so we have to find substitutes. Acoustipack is available from NZ for dampening and noise absorption but I want to try and find something local that could be used. I’ve found a source of 3mm Neoprene Rubber. It is quiet he...

Effectiveness of top-mounted fans in cases

I'm contemplating the idea of adding a top mounted fan to my case (an Antec SLK3700 BQE), which would mean drilling a hole to accommodate the fan (most likely a 120mm fan) between the power supply and DVD drive. My idea is that such a fan would help lower the system temperature as heat is exhausted ...

prevalence of silencing and cooling activities

Something about different. Can anyone tell me objectivity or direct me to data that shows how common (or uncommon) cooling and silencing activities are among computer users. I'm trying to determine, for example, what % of computer owners at the time of buying a new computer or after buying a compute...
