Im running the following from a 150W picoPSU, using the fanless 150W brick : imo, this doesn't tell us anything useful -- brand, model #, detailed specs are needed. Sorry, as jackoakwood said, its the one from mini-box. Originally had the 102W one, but the fan apparently kicks in at 90W load, and m...

Im running the following from a 150W picoPSU, using the fanless 150W brick:

DH57JG
i3-530
4GB DDR3
500GB 3.5" Samsung
Slim DVDRW

I had a power meter, but i dont think it was accurate at all, and it would read 90W under load.

Namheul I do not know your system but if is just a simple i3 or i5 with one HDD and DVD then your values are wrong. What power meter are you using? Are you reading Watt or VA? Its a i3-530 on a DH57JG. 1 3.5" HDD and laptop ODD. The power meter was a cheap $20 one. Im pretty sure im reading watts.

Seems something is wrong with my PC, or something is wrong with my power meter.

Idle: ~62W
Full Load (Furmark & Prime95): ~132W

Even when i stopped Prime95 but kept Furmark running, it went back to ~62W.

Im not sure my watt meter is accurate, as i get around 45W idle and others report roughly 30W.

I havent ever fully loaded it with furmark or whatever, but i have encoded lots of videos at 100% CPU. Never monitored the power usage while doing this, but will do tonight and see what it reports.

At max CPU + GPU load, it will use more than 90W. Not very scientific, but i had an old 102W power brick for my 150W picoPSU, and it had a fan that turns on at 90W load. The fan would sometimes turn on when i was encoding videos (which wasnt even constant 100% CPU, and 0% GPU). I would want at least...

I have the same motherboard and CPU, but with a regular ODD and 3.5" HDD, and it hits 90W at full load while encoding some videos.

I would get the 65W version, and replace the PSU with a 150W picoPSU.

After some google work, i found that the big shuriken might fit, and that the regular shuriken will fit, and i will be able to use the PCI-E slot too. So i ordered one. I'm using the Big Shuriken on my DH57JG and it fits. You just can't use RAM with tall heatspreaders. Thanks for the pics. Decided ...

Not sure if it will fit though, as the motherboard has a stupid CPU socket location: http://images.anandtech.com/galleries/596/main.jpg I might have to research how much it will hang over the socket, and if it will hit the ram. Socket 1156 on DH57JG

Hi All. I have the DH57JG motherboard with a i3 530, inside an Apex MI-008 case. The stock cooler is too loud for my liking, so i wanted to upgrade it to something to can run passive, or with a slow 120mm fan. Looking at the underside of the motherboard, you will see this: http://images.anandtech.co...

I have the Aywun (Apex everywhere else in the world i think) MI-008 with:
Intel DHJG57
i3 530
DVDRW
3.5" HDD

Could easily fit a 2.5" SSD in there too.

I removed the stock PSU and used a picoPSU though.

Have you done any load testing?

Under full load, it should use more than 65W.
Also, i have the same CPU-motherboard combination, and i had trouble with the motherboard backplate too. Seemed like it was too big.

He means that it will have 20W "spare" just in case it needs them.

Just be careful with the 120W pico, as it doesnt have a P4 connector, only has a 20pin connector, and still has a floppy connector on it.

The 150W pico has a P4, 24pin, and 1 molex and 1 sata.

I wouldnt bother with an ION board. Why do you need HD capable graphics on a NAS?

I use a Foxconn board which has a N270 Atom, and it works fine.

As far as i know, the fan comes on at 90W load in that adapter. So if you say it sometimes comes on i would say you are using more then 90W.

Im no expert though.

Interestingly, i have the same motherboard, a 65W 4200+, 500GB HDD and 2x1GB ram, and i have never heard the fan in my 102W adapter.
