Mike, I had a problem with spambots on my forum. I was getting 10-15 new bots a day. The problem is the spam bot programs now are automated, they signup, follow the activation email links, and handle CAPTCHAs via workers in China/India. The solution I found that is still working was the PHPBB kitten...

dvi and IPS monitor.... You can use anything just about.
2070SB, I loved it. :)

Arctic cooling does this. They share the PWM line going to the fans from one to another, and source the +12V and Ground for the second fan off of another header.

Probably none, unless you are looking for a very specific solution, like a quad monitor setup. It's probably cheaper to get a mobo that has 2 PCI-E GPU slots, and get 2 GPUs with 2 dvi ports on each, than to get a single matrox gpu with quad dvi ports. One of the big things, for traders, etc is dri...

I cannot comment on whether or not this is a good psu. XG claims the unit is 600w external fanless. The reviewer found a fan in the psu.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3500630AS 500GB has gotten tons of complaint about noise in the newegg ratings. Apparently it is noisier than the WD2500KS and the rest of the KS family by an easily noticeable amount I moved from 12x Hitachi 250GBs to 12x 500GB 7200.10s and I l...

I was getting the same echoing with the back fans unplugged. I ended up swapping out the 92mm fans and rear 80mm fans with some Arctic Cooling ones, (listed as 20dB and 24.5dB) and it seems to have helped a lot. It still sounds almost like a hollow tunnel, and nowhere near as bad as it was. I ended ...

I replaced the 80mm fans with some Arctic Cooling AF8s and the pair of 92mm fans with some Arctic Cooling AF9s and it definitely sounds less like bees in a cave, so that is good. I'd still like to quiet it down some more, there isn't any way I can suspend any of the drives, and all the fans are the ...

I love that it has rotors and stators (aka blades and vanes..). Reminds me of the turbine parts I work on. :)

The case was meant for server use, as such the 80mm fans provided are nowhere near anything that'd be used by SPCR's audience. Even with the fans unplugged the case is louder than my previous one. :)

echoing case problem

I recently upgraded the RAID controller in my file server. Prior to this I was running my file server out of a midtower with everything packed in there pretty tightly. I chose components that were quiet enough for me to deal with, and things were good. I picked up the new RAID controller, which is s...

Wanted to update this to say that my Enermax 600w noisetaker has been handling the job that the PC Power and Cooling 510 did very well for the past two weeks. Now I need to work on replacing the 92 and 80mm fans that cool my drive cages, and I might be able to take it out of the closet. :)

sch, I'd tend to belive the 430 would be enough for the 6800GT SLI. Tagan does make strong PSUs, but if it was me, I'd probably buy their 480 and not take a chance. My shuttle's 350W psu ran a pair of 6800GTs, 3 hdds, 3800 X2 overclocked, and 2GB ram. It currently runs the same with 2x 7800GTXs inst...

I do plan on selling the array drives and single drives off later on and migrating to 500GB hdds, its just the price currently isnt where I'd lik...

If you decide on the Asus A8N, have a zalman chipset fan waiting. That chipset fan is notorious for going bad quickly. Mine lasted a few days before it was buzzing. I had the chipset fan unplugged and an 80mm fan with a fanmate on it within the first day after that, and a zalman heatsink on it withi...

Worst case scenario is you'd have to cut a little bit of the tunnel if the heatsink was sitting too high up in the c...

I wouldnt bother paying for deionized water, it starts losing its resistivity as soon as it hits air, unless you're constantly deionizing it with DI resin. Distilled water and a corrosion inhibitor would be your best bet.
