The pioneer A11XL comes in silver as does the LG 4167BBS Are these AU exclusive items? Google turns up mainly Australian sites. Could be - it would be a first :-) I've ordered an NSK 2400 and an A11XLC (the silver variant) although I'm torn about whether black would look better. Both these items ar...

I don't think there is a any difference between CPU and case fans but there are some differences which may affect the use of a fan in any particular application: 1. 120 mm fans come in two thicknesses - 25mm and 38mm. I use a 38mm fan on my CPU cooler and 25mm fans for my case fans 2. Some fans come...

marybutts - have you had time to take new pictures? Also - The front is silver. The 5.25 drive bays don't look like they have flip-down covers. I did a pretty light search but found nothing - does anyone know of any silver-faced optical drives? Jay The pioneer A11XL comes in silver as does the LG 4...

Thanks for the pic, that looks great! A few things I wanted to ask though: 1. what did you use at the top (bottom of the FDD cage) to attach the bungee cord to? 2. where/how does the bungee cord attach at the bottom (cannot see it in the pic) 3. do you just have two pieces of cord? One for the fron...

Hi there and thanks for the quick reply. My case is the Antec SLK3000B case. The problem is that the HDD cage is for 5 drives and thus there is virtually no space on the top/bottom of the cage. THis makes it impossible to either soft mount or suspend; and I cannot get a hold of an alternative cage ...

im a little confused now! :)
The 12V rail is available on most of the connectors from the PSU. Connect a drive to one of the molex power connectors and that may be enough to load the 12V rail.

so SLI can be enabled in the BIOS I assume? It doesn't really need to be modded to SLI right? (with the pencil trick thing) The NForce4 chip supports 20 PCI Express lanes. These lanes can be assigned to the PCIe slots in two different ways. The normal format has the following lane assignments x1 x1...

Just FYI. You don't need to do the pencil mod to get 8x in the lower slot. It's just the jumpers.

Glad to hear that you are stable. You said that the Chipset reached 51-52C but with an ambient of 33C that seems perfectly reasonable. I doubt the stock cooler would work any better in that kind of heat. Incidently Macman, how is that VX working out for you? Are you running off the alternate jumper...

Re: Antec SLK3000B -- which are the motherboard standoff scr

The SLK3700BQE manual (what Antec supports points you to if you request an SLK3000B manual) says to insert the "Phillips-head" screws into the brass standoffs. (1) Screws with round semi-spherical heads, (2) screws with a flat head, and (3) screws with a semi-flat head and a semi-regular cross-mark...

Macman, I see you tried the 2x PCIe slot. Did you happen to try moving the SLI jumpers to see if you could get 8x in that slot? My reading indicates that there is very little difference between 8x and 16x on current cards, and if we could use the bottom slot at 8x that would be a great solution. I ...

I have my Ultra board now and am putting together my system - still waiting for drives. So far, the chipset fan is really quiet. Increased rigidity?

I have had to twist them out to put anything in a particular slot.
They are for EMI shielding when you don't use the slots for a drive.

Aleksi 's post contains a lot of good information, but it didn't make one point clear. There is no "pure" RPM cable on the Nexus fans. It has a 4-pin pass-through connector for direct connection to the PSU and it has a 3-pin connector to plug onto a motherboard fanheader. You should use only one of...
