Re: recommend fan for cisco 891
If you put the unit inside a case with a big fan on it, you can move air through it quietly. Maybe this is the next best alternative ... somehow figuring out a way to do push/pull using 120mm intake/exhaust fans in a larger pizzabox case. Dunno which one might serve the purpose or how effective it ...

Re: recommend fan for cisco 891
So, I got another 891 to test with, and it, too, has the droning fan noise. I made some crude sound measurements using the Voice Memo app on my iPhone 4 and stuck the iPhone about 1" away from the fans in question. As a comparison, I made a 2nd measurement of the 120mm fans on my open air tech bench...

Re: My dell 30"Monitor emits noise! wich 30" mon. is b
It seems to vary in the models. In my home office, I have an Apple 30", and 2 3008WFPs. The WFP in the middle emits a whine which is similar in noise to the coil whine my PSU makes when my SSD is doing furious writes; it only emits this whine when turned off but plugged in. The WFP on the end has n...

Re: recommend fan for cisco 891
They are supposed to be coming out with a fanless version of the 881, so I am hoping that means they are working on a fanless version of the 891, too. Since the 891 came out recently, though, that probably means it's not going to be anytime soon (waiting another year).

Re: recommend fan for cisco 891
I have the 891 installed on my desk, and it was an upgrade from the fanless 871 so I can definitely notice the fan noise. It's mostly a vibration related noise. I tried placing the 891 on top of some noise reducing foam that I had left from a foam order from one of the vendors recommended here but t...

Setup my Lian Li last night. It is a very nice case. The stock fans it comes with are quite loud at 12V. I am going to have to invest in some Scythe Typhoons me thinks :) It's too bad that for the price of the case that they didn't include some more silent fans. So even @ the lowest speed setting, ...

Swiftech Quiet Power v2.0 - P180+Swiftech Water Cooling
As an owner of Swiftech's original Quiet Power case with a pre-integrated Swiftech water cooling bundle, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that today, they released an updated version of the Quiet Power case/kit that pairs the P180 w/ the latest of Swiftech's premium H2O kits: http://www.swiftn...

Aopen mentioned that they were going to sell the Pandora themselves... probably for higher than the $499 price stated in their press release. I suspect that price is for OEMs and not for general consumer purchases. I'm looking around for other vendors that will offer this other than Voodoo and I hav...

Tyan recommends an EPS12 rated PSU for this motherboard. But I'm not sure if they made that recommendation with use of SCSI drives in mind. I have the non-SCSI version and use only SATA drives. There is a vent on the bottom of the part of the case where the PSU would go but it's a similar venting de...

Hmmm, it's possible that the power supplying the dual Opteron 252s + the dual 6800 Ultras is causing the PSU to heat up because the exhausted air is certainly not cool, it's kind of warm but not hot. Disabling the fan might be a "Bad Thing(tm)". I'm not averse to turning off the 80mm noisy fan and r...

The case is similar to the Lian Li 1100/1200 series where the PSU is in its own compartment w/ no other vents inside the case other than the exhaust in the rear and a little vent underneath the PSU where I assume the intake fan is receiving cool air to cool the PSU. It's a good observation that in a...

Silencing 660W Enermax (Whisper series)
I've narrowed down most of the noise in my watercooled SLi rig to my "Whisper" 660W PSU from Enermax.
