I didn't buy it yet, I said I was composing the list.

Re: Ryzen is OUT!
uggh, word is now that the 4 core versions are 2+2 (all CCX configs must be symmetrical, 4+4, 3+3, or 2+2). If so then the 4 core loses it's one big advantage (I thought it was getting around the CCX issue). So now the Ryzen 7 1700 is the 65W part with the least drawbacks (but almost twice the price...

Hey dhanson, long time no see! Welcome back! It's pretty straightforward: because it's not available. I spoke of what can be actually measured, not about leaks or educated guessworks. With reference to those first actual reviews I saw/see no reasons / data to speculate. So, again, being a so-called...

Oh and here is a good motherboard list https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5zkcn5/am4_motherboards_updated_031517/ I'm kind of partial to the Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming 3 (not to be confused with the Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming (note the missing "3")) because it has so many temp sensors / fan headers a...

If we then expand the view to include... I didn't and I see no reason to do that. I don't see why you wouldn't. 120W+ TDP? No way for fanless. That ship sails somewhere between 50 and 75W. Base RX 470 was shown on slides from AMD to be 100W or 110W to begin with before they released at 120W and I'd undervolt. No way I'd try to run an overclocked RX 470 in the 125W range. https://www.arctic.ac/us_en/accelero-...

any chance of a fanless RX470? How about a 2 slot heat sink with the fans eating up the 2.5 or 3rd slots worth?
My fanless HD7750 started flaking out on me a few months ago and I'm stuck listening to the fan on a R7 360 right now.

Great review. Of course I already bought a Mugen Max. Typical me - terrible timing. I'm a bit puzzled why a 140mm fan was used as the reference, as the stock fan is 120mm? +1 I wanted to see numbers for a 120mm fan at 800 RPM and for fanless and anything in between you feel like testing.

if you are on XP 32 bit they stopped doing AMD drivers for XP at 14.4 (April/2014) some of the older installers let you uncheck catalyst during the install and you can run the driver without it in those cases, the newer installs require it. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/deta...

You don't mention your OS so I'll just give the answer as though it's Windows 7 x64 as that is pretty common. The current full package is Omega (14.12) 288MB The current beta package is 14.11.2 Beta 273MB I'd just run the current Omega build. Any modern CPU/RAM setup* won't notice it's overhead. You...

speedfan doesn't see the fan speed and doesn't control the fan. The fan is off or very slow most of the time, it ramps up if the CPU gets pegged but sounds benign like a smooth optical drive would. Just the whir of something rotating. The fan ran for about 20-30 minutes during the windows install an...

On another thought, Andy when are you going to get rid of RAID5 and go to RAID 1+0? Parity based RAID was old school more than ten years ago, but then every day is international backup awareness day.
