Yeah, I did use the search function and for some reason didn't find that particular thread (I did find the other two).
Anyway, did you end up trying it at all, or did you decide against it at that point?
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions.

I know and I accept that. What I want to do is see if there is anything I can do to minimize the noise from the card. So, I am thinking maybe the Acoustipak material might help. Perhaps the flat stuff on the door and then maybe the thicker textured stuff on the top and then the blocks around the bay...

Lian Li V1000 and Dampening Material Advice
I have my system installed in my Lian Li V1000 and I am quite pleased with the results. The only thing that is still too loud for me is the BFG 6800 Ultra fan. I don't want to replace the fan / heatsink because it will void my lifetime warranty. So, I am curious if anyone has tried any of the dampen...

The Nexus fans are noisy? I thought they were supposed to be the most quiet of the 120mm fans. I had actually planned on running them at 12v to maximize their airflow since they are supposed to be whisper quiet even at 12v. I am cooling a Prescott, so I do need some airflow in the case. Also, does a...

Well, I received the case and installed it last night. For whatever reason, I was thinking that I was going to receive the version on the Lian Li website (says "plus" I guess) but I receved the previous model instead. So, I still have the mesh grill for now. I am also using the stock fans. If I inst...

I did run them off of the mobo headers and told the mobo to control the speeds. They run at about 400rpm at idle and get up to about 800rpm under load, but they are not moving enough air. If I tell the mobo to leave them at full speed (there are no settings in between) then the system runs cool, but...

Help with Lian Li V1000 mod question
I see a lot of notes about people who have removed the rear grill from the case. I see that this is done immediately, but I don't see any tests done without removing it to see how much of a difference it makes. I somewhat dislike the idea of hacking into a $200 case and I tend to turn to modding onl...

Coolermaster 120mm and V1000
Well, I tried the 120mm Coolermaster that was recommended and I am noticing a distinct medium pitch whine from them at 12v. Is this to be expected? I have decided to grab a Lian Li V1000 case and I heard that the fans were not really quiet, so I wanted to the try the Coolermasters since they had bet...

Help choosing fan for XP90 with a Prescott
Can someone please recommend a fan to use with the XP90 to cool a Pentium 4 640 Prescott? I am really not seeing too many posts about the fan that people find to be quiet yet move enough air for a Prescott. Will the Nexus 92mm be good or should I look at the Zalman 92mm that has the undervolting ada...

Zalman 7700 and Intel D915PGN in a Sonata
Has anyone tried this combo? The Zalman website shows that the 7700 will fit this mobo but required 16mm clearance between the edge of the board and the power supply. As best as can measure (on the conservative side) without removing the mobo, I have at least 16mm clearance. I am worried that the he...

Are these too new for anyone to have used them yet? I just measured my clearance between the edge of the mobo and compared that to the minimum clearance requirements from Zalman. They call for 16mm. I measured EXACTLY 16mm of clearance, but I fear that if I used the 7700 that it would actually just ...

Yes, I mean connecting the fan to the headers on the mobo. Unless I am misinterpreting something, the Intel mobo is supposed vary the fan speeds according to temps. I know it does this with the CPU fan (I can hear and observe this), so I am hoping it will do this with the case fan too. Otherwise I a...

Any Nexus PHT-7750 SkiveTek CPU Cooler Experiences?
I can't fit a Zalman 7700 on my CPU (Sonata case does not provide enough clearance between heat sink and PS), but the Nexus PHT-7750 SkiveTek looks like it will fit. This appears to be a new cooler and I wanted to know if anyone has looked at this cooler and maybe even compared it to the stock Intel...

Cooler Master SUF-S12-EB safe for Mobo?
I think I have settled on the Cooler Master SUF-S12-EB but I want to know this fan will be OK to connect to the mobo connector on my Intel 915PGN. The only other fan I have connected to the mobo is the stock Intel CPU fan. I don't want to overload the fan controller, but I am thinking that a relativ...

My PC does sit on the ground, but when I removed the dust filter I didn't see hardly any dust on it all. The dust had collected all around my DVD drive and other openings. I have the new style case, too, so the front opening is there (behind the front bezel) and I don't use ribbon cables or anything...

New idle temps
Well, I am a little surprised! My idle temps are down after opening that hole at the bottom front of the Sonata bezel. My CPU is 42C and system board zones are 33C and 34C. That's down about 3C (same ambient) from before. So, hopefully my peak load temps will drop too. Under load, before the mod, I ...

Excellent, I'll take a look. I was considering the 120mm Stealth fan. It looks like it would provide some extra CFM if connected to the mobo, but there seems to be a number of reports that it's not very quiet. I am still looking for a good 120mm fan that will not overload the mobo, still be reasonab...

Sounds good. The stock antec fan has the 4 pin molex, so I have to hook it to the PS. I have the PS hooked up to the MB RPM monitor, but I doubt that the RPMs reported for the PS are what the 120mm fan is putting out. Basically, if I hold my hand over the fan outlet on the back of the case, there is...

120mm Fan Decision Feedback for Antec Sonata
I have a P4 640 (3.2Ghz Prescott) system running an Antec Sonata. I plan to install the Zalman 7700 and I am currently using the stock Antec 120mm fan running off of the Antec fan-only PS connector. I want to improve the cooling and quiet things down, which I think the Zalman cooler will do. Now, to...

New System Cooling Feedback Please
I just put together a P4 3.2 640 (775) (stock new style radial fin cooler) system with a 6800 GT in an Antec Sonata with a TreuPower 550 PS. I am waiting for the Antec Phantom 500, then I will swap out the PSU. I am game for replacing the 120mm case fan. Maybe the Panaflo? The "L" designation is the low speed variety, right? I have just completed putting together a system using a Sonata case and I was wondering if any of you have tried the Acustipack custom cut dampening kit with it. First of all, I want to say thanks to everyone that provided input. It definately helped quite a bit. I am just starting to understand what it means to have a quiet PC, but I think I am off to a good start. My goal was not just to quiet the machine, but improve cooling and provide a platform for 680...
