Then... why are 500W and 600W power supplies even in the market? :? Because people will buy them. It's kind of like the reason cars capable of 200+ MPH are on the market. You have it, but you'll never be able to actually use it. :) That and occasionally, there are people who have legitimate uses fo...

I'll be ordering one from New Egg within the next couple of weeks.

Back on the Mad Dog fans . . .
I finally picked up a few of these. I'm actually rather pleased, especially for a fan that I can pick up locally (and since I live 10 minutes from New Hampshire, I can get it tax free as well). So, I have one at full speed on my XP-120 which is a little noisier than I'd like, but not objectionable. ...

I've heard that Soltek's K8TPro-939 (VIA K8T800 Pro) is compatible with the XP-120 . I saw the article about the rev. E nForce problems . Don't know if this will affect VIA chipsets as well... It's compatible. I have an XP-120 on my K8TPro-939 currently. I can comfortably recommend this motherboard...

Fan controller suggestions needed . . . .
A long time ago, I had a fan-bus that fit in a 5 1/4 inch bay. It controlled several fans, but did so with a switch that went from 5v to 7v to 12v. It had no knobs just switches for the three settings. I don't have this one any longer, but I'm looking for something similar. I don't want a PWM device...

Mcmaster has some. I can't remember what page I saw them on. You need to be careful what durometer range you get (60 or 70). Too soft and they'll kinda ooze out from under your case. I saw the ones at McMaster, but they seemed just a tad small diameter-wise (nothing over an inch really). I gu...

Looking for rubber/vibration damping case feet
I've seen the ones at QuietPC, but $6.75 for 4 adhesive rubber feet seems a bit expensive (especially after shipping). Any suggestions for another source? I had thought of Home Depot, but there isn't one that's really close by. So, I'm looking for a source for somewhat soft rubber feet to replace th...

Re: Silencing The Antec SLK3000B (And Other Cases) The Easy
Reinforced Heavy Duty Outdoor Carpet Tape This durable rubberized double sided tape lets you mount even heavy components anywhere they'll fit instantly. The end result is strong adhesion with vibration damping rubber insulating the connection. Other similar tapes will work, though again I've had th...

It really depends
Much of what I think has already been stated above. The problem is that overclocking and quiet computers aren't the most compatible concepts in the world. I've had CPU's that I was able to overlock by a full 1 ghz, but the noise required to cool it isn't something that's worth it in my opinion. I've...

Sometimes experimenting pays off . . .
I don't have any type of measuring device to give hard data on this, but it came as a surprise to me. I have several fans around that I've had for a while that have carried me through my various phases of computer building, tweaking, etc. Previously, I was less concerned with noise, and more concern...

I, too, was hesitant to mod the closed corners of my Globe 120mm case fan. I decided to just go ahead and do it because I really wanted to use it as an exhaust for my SLK3700BQE. Anyway, I purchased a $5 coping saw at Home Depot and it was a piece of cake to remove the corners. Took all of 10 minut...

Fan for XP-120?
Okay, I'm no expert on fans, but I know that without mods, I can't get a Nexus to work on the XP-120 due to the closed corners. I'm currently using a Panaflo L1-A at 5v to power the thing, but I know I can do better both with airflow and noise. I'm not finding anything that really tells me what my b...

Does unused Artic Silver Ceramique have any tendency to deteriorate over time (i.e. is it OK to buy one of those larger syringes as a lifetime supply or simply get a small syringe and get a "fresh" small syringe when it eventually runs out?)? Also, over what type of time span does generic thermal g...

In my experience, it tastes just as bad as cheap paste. Try eating a piece of cheese between samples. I believe you will find the expensive paste has more fruity undertones. I'm partial to Artic Silver Ceramique because it works, is non-conductive, cleans up easily, and I have enough to last the re...

Oh and WELCOME TO SPCR !!! Thanks for the info and the welcome :) I think, seeing as I lack a place to work and tools right now, I may just order it with a 92mm fan which I can user or not depending on what happens. If I determine it cools well enough without the fan, then I won't turn it on :). I'...

Introduction and need opinions on Coolcases LX-6A19
Hi all, I'm a long time computer enthusiast and builder, but fairly new to trying to make them quiet :). I'm contemplating switching to a Coolcases modified Compucase LX-6A19, and using an acousticase silencing kit like this one http://www.silentpcreview.com/article137-page1.html Now, I'm wondering ...
