Lupo, that is a very great rightup, I learned a lot about some of the more obscure (for me :)) types of sound absorbtion. In just a few minutes of looking around the internet for mineral or rock wool (they are the same thing right?), i have found it comes in a number of different densities. www.mcma...

And to the original poster (just so this does not get too offtrack): It cannot hurt to put the foam into your case, as it is bound to absorb some sound. The only thing i can see that would go wrong is if it fell apart or began to dissolve, but this is not likely as it holds up pretty well under our ...

lead is the best soundproofing material possible. Gold? By your reasoning gold would be the best as it is more dense, but this is beside the point. Sound is a wave, lots of things are waves Lots of things are waves, but nothing is a wave as sound is. Sound is carried through (or is) compression "wa...

Lead, while it is a metal, is actually sound proof. not sound deadening, sound proof. I am sorry, but that is a ridiculous statement. How can lead be soundproof? Does lead have a mysterious magical power that prevents it from vibrating? I do agree that lead or mass loaded vinyl is good for sound de...

MonsterMac: im not trying to argue, but a few minutes ago i read this thread http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=913874 which deals with the heat/instability "myth" (or so they call it) if your interested read at least the link off the first post. Might give you a new perspective but i have no ide...

Mass loaded vinyl is also a pound per square foot, and according to some (maybe that one not sure) sites it is more effective than lead. Just looking at densities though they would be about the same. Plus its not a poison and it is probably (dont know from experiance) easier to install. Edit: spelling

Yeah chief, broad generalizations are great for everyone. Not only do you not know weather someone has SLI and a high powered pentium with a raid array, but you back up your claim that generalizations are good with an example from your own computer. Isn't that the definition of specificity? This who...

I think the critism of dual core is largely a moot point. While it is true (according to the toms and AT reviews) that these are only as fast as their counterpart(GHz wise) running games, running multiple programs they are faster, and specific programs. More and more programs are going to start comi...

I agree with not publishing reviews on bad products, as it would be a waste of time time to write a comprehensive review (the only kind spcr does) on something that does not matter. But i think it would be good if ya'll could at least mention unworthy products in a list or someother item. If a consu...

Speedfan not changing my fans speed
I have a gateway 300 seriers, with a intel D815EFVU motherboard that has a 1.4 GHZ celeron with a small aluminum heatsink and an annoying 60 mm fan. Speedfan shows the cpu fan as 4388 RPM, so its getting on my nerves. It goes down to 0 RPM when i stop the fan, so im sure it is recieving the correct ...
