Measurements?
Anyone seen measurements for that heatsink? I didn't see them on the Sapphire site. I have my motherboard out on the table, and I'm trying to eyeball whether this card would interfere with my NB or CPU heatsinks. I just can't say for sure. I know the HR-03 won't fit for me if mounted the same way, b...

Same here last I checked. One of my services was trying to upload/download all night without any luck.
Edit: Looks like others are having the same problem.

Are both CPUs measured in the same system running the same components? Also same RAM settings? That doesn't really make sense that the 35W Opteron is drawing so much more power than your 3500+ Winnie!? Just double-checking, is your Tcasemax reading 49C? I'm with you, but the CPUs were measured in t...

Well, I just bought one of those coveted 35 watt Opteron 180s as an upgrade from an Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester chip. Given what I've measured, that 35W seems meaningless. Here's the stepping, the TDP reported by TCaseMax v1.19, and the overall system power consumption measured with a Kill-A-Watt at ...

skj - thanks for the info re Ninja. How far out of line did you have to push the capacitors - 45 degrees? More? I was expecting that it might block the DIMMs, as it's listed on Scythe's site as blocking DIMMs on some of their full ATX boards. It's good to hear it confirmed, though, as it influences...

Also, has anyone got a Scythe Ninja to fit on one of these yet? Problems? I just did, but it is a very tight fit. The heatpipes are pushing out a few of the capacitors to the left of the socket. I'm glad I didn't break anything. I was thinking the memory might be an issue, but I had no problems the...

There are plenty of people (or at least a few) on these forums who run their XP-120's fanless. A lot of it depends on what kind of temps you're comfortable with. I run mine on an Athlon 64 3500+ with a Nexus at about 5.5 volts. I can't hear it when the case is closed and having a fan there gives me ...

Hey scrawnypaleguy, As eLecTRiK mentioned, manufacturers' specs are almost meaningless. There's usually no way of knowing how (or if) they measured noise and how that compares to the competition. Here are some potential noisemakers in your system: -Cooler Master Wave Master case... it's aluminum, wh...

Isaac, Enjoyed both of your projects, especially the hard drive mods. They should get bonus points for buoyancy. One question--how come you decided to flip the PSU fan? If the CPU heatsink is ducted, wouldn't it get cooler air with the fan blowing up? Did you find one method noisier than the other? ...

I'm really happy with the WD1600-JB (the 160GB EIDE). I pieced together much of my system based on recommendations from this site, but I bought my WD hard drive w/o research because it was $30 after rebates at BestBuy. I suspended it with Stretch Magic and whaddyaknow I can't hear the thing. I under...

If memory serves, the screws holding down the front fan on my own TJ04 were accessible once I took off the front bezel. To get to the screws for the bezel, you need to first take off the left panel, then the top/right panel. It's not exactly user-friendly, but you can get at the fan without drilling...

No problem, BenW. Regarding plexiglass... I agree with you intuitively. And I'd rather have a solid side panel so it's easier to apply products like AcoustiPack. I based my earlier comments on a post I read here. Read the third post by lenny and the reply by SPCR Administrator MikeC. I'm very much a...

I've had that case for a couple months now. It's a solid build with a steel frame and steel panels. The only aluminum is in the thick front bezel. Of course, it's only as quiet as what you put in there. Right now, all I can hear is my NF4 northbridge fan. I'll be replacing that with a passive heatsi...

OK. Enough lurking for me. Any idea whether the ZM80D-HP will preclude you from an SLI setup in the future? I'm running the same board, and while I by no means need two GPUs right now, I was thinking it might give me a nice lower cost graphics upgrade in the future. Nice setup by the way. Thanks for...
