Update: I bought some 38mm acoustic foam and lined the inside of the back door, the two removable side panels and also the roof. It has made a significant difference, and whilst I don't have a db meter, I would say it has cut the noise from 1/3 to 1/2 of what it was. For some reason, the temp in th...

To give you an idea where it sits in the room see the below picture. The rack usually is 4 degrees warmer than the room (room: 23deg, rack: 27deg) I tried turning the 4 fans off in the roof of the rack, but the temp went up to 34 and whilst it helped a bit with noise, it didn't make heaps of differe...

Quieting down my server rack
I have just set up my own business and am doing everything on a budget. :) As a result my office is very small and the way it is laid out, I am sitting right next to my server rack. Reliablity is more important than noise, but the noise of all the componets is approaching that of a small aircraft! I...

All I can say is "Bring it on!" Things are more "interesting" when I have someone on my tail. Just to make things interesting I'll bump up the pace a bit. I better see you within the top 100 in a week! http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_list.php?s=&t=31574 - TRC-13 Well, it took ...

I put together my new rig: DFI LanParty NF4 SLI DR, AMD64 4000+ San Diego, 2Gb DDR, 1 x XFX 7800 GTX OC, 1 x WD 74Gb Raptor, Antec P180. The power supply I used was a BRAND NEW Seasonic S12-500W. I turned on the computer for the first time and all went well. Installed Xp and all the other crap and l...

But remember, don't (tell us that you) do it without the owner's permission! Play fair and(/or?) keep it silent. I always get the owners permission! The only thing I do is overclock the machines here at work by 10% to get a little more production. Hey it also makes the cards fall faster when these ...

I know!!! Bojh is doing a good job!!! I've had one of my better machines off line for a few days now whilst I water cool it (Zalman resorator). But it's back up and going now. The temps are good, so i'm going to be o/c it a little bit to speed things up a bit. I'll be adding another 10 1.8ghz P4's l...

The office machines are mostly 1.8Ghz Pentium 4's. About half of them are on 24/7, the other half are on 9-10hours a day. They are only used for basic email / word processing so F@H should get 100% most of the time. Since I don't have access to high power machines my tactic is "death by a thousand c...

Furious_G's challenge
Ok, well i've been folding for SPCR for less than two weeks now. I have convinced everyone in my office to use their machine for folding as well as my own two home machines. My daily point average is 278 and i've basically gone to no effort. I'm charging up the rankings within our team and gaining f...

Whilst I am only new I do think we need to do something. If everyone just encouraged ONE family member or freind or even got their office to join it it would make a considerable difference. I am going to try my own tact to get people folding again and lay down a challenge. I'll be starting a new thr...

Water cooling a ASUS EN6600GT
I am seriously considering watercooling my HTPC, was thinking about the Zalman resorator but that's not important here. My problem is with my graphics card and layout of bus slots. I have a sound card, 2 TV tuner cards and my graphics card. All slots are full. As a result the graphics card plastic f...

Power to PCI-e video card
I have been lurking around on this site for ages now and I am finally posting a message. I am in the process of building a HTPC and I have a question Does an ASUS EN6600GT PCI-e graphics card require a power connection direct from the power supply? (I can't seem to find an answer on this anywhere) (...
