I've got 3 hard drives and the way the drives overhang the motherboard it has been a hassle getting one 7800GT in with cable management, let alone 2.

SLI Case choices...

I'm gonna' take the jump to SLI in a couple months and I don't think my venerable Antec SLK3000B is roomy enough for the job. So, current SLI owners tell me what case you are using and even better, show me some pictures. I am very paticular about wiring and air flow so a pic is truly worth a thousan...

Oh, the options! A Dell XPS 400 with Dual P4's 2G RAM Dual 160 Hard Drives nVidia geForce 6800 video card Generic Dell single tuner (ATI) Yeah, um, I think I located the source of your intense heat. Do you need a furnace with that thing running? :P The higher the temps, the higher the noise. I'd be...

Anyone have a shipping date for this case yet? I have a need for a BTX system ASAP and can't find this case anywhere?

What? I think tomshardware.com is great, and the VGA/CPU charts are the best by far. While some of their comparison charts are useful they have been caught showing bias more than a few times in their stand alone reviews. Every word you read at Tom's should be taken with a huge grain of salt and val...

I'm not sure what all the sarcasm is for.... Because there is nothing more fun than mocking Toms these days, too many times they have been caught showing extreme bias, using flawed scientific methods, outright dishonesty, etc... And just as many times they have editorialized about how legit and for...

Well add me to the Foxconn Blows club roster, I had a S754 Sempron 3100 I got really cheap so I grabbed a Foxconn NF4K8AB board and at first it seemed great. There was only one minor issue that the PCI-E kept getting reported as an AGP bus, but after emailing Foxconn they said it would be fixed in a...

Expirament complete, the TAC duct is necessary. With the duct in place temps are 3-4c lower than without the duct and just the grill holes exposed. So there you go, leave the duct on.

Here's my rig... Antec SLK3000B 420W Enermax PSU PIV 530J (3.0ghz) 2x512MB Crucial Leadtek 6600GT 2x120MM Nexus (de-coupled, front and rear) This is the second retail HSF on the CPU and it is far quieter than the first one, happy with that. This is also the second Leadtek 6600GT, the first one was v...

One of my client ordered a bunch of HPs based on a straight BTX design. The samples we tested with 2.8ghz PIVs and they were virtually silent, not up to my standards buy tolerable in an office environment with minor ambient noise. When it came time to place the order they were offering the 3.4ghz PI...

I've lurked here for a while and learned a lot. I have tried aluminum cases several times and they are ALWAYS noisier than steel. There is just no way around it, the resonating characteristics of aluminum cases can be quieted, but it takes more work and never completely goes away. It is cheaper and ...

Ehrm. Apples ATI 9200 is a fair bit better than everything that comes integrated. It's a good DX8.1 level gfx chip. Apple does use the gfx-chip for its user interface. This is quite intelligent. The upcoming Tiger update of the OS will use the gfx chip even more extensively and make this available ...

I had a Via C3 1000 for about a month, it was generally sluggish for many common task with Windows XP. I suppose if you were doing nothing but web surfing, simple email and very basic word processing it would be enough, but ask it for much more and it sputtered. The last straw was when it couldn't f...

I had a Sonata and found it to be annoying to work in, I really didn't like the flipped drive cages either. While I am not sure the SLK3000B is a lot larger, it feels more spaceous to work in. I sold my Sonata and paired the SLK3000B with a ENERMAX Noisetaker 420W and am very happy. I also replaced ...
